In very apt ‘Glorious’ sunshine a tantalising shot of 50033 on shuttle duties to Bewdley, part way through its restoration but now working and covered in fund raising scribble (£5 a go) Cl. 50 Golden Jubilee th Gala, Kidderminster Town, SVR, 4 October 2018 (Brian Derricote). More on the Gala in November issue. £2.50 where sold separately Printed & distributed in the UK by Henry Ling Limited, at the Dorset Press, Dorchester DT1 1HD 2 SOCIETY NOTICE BOARD Editor’s Comments: Hopefully all who went to our annual Eastleigh bash enjoyed it. There was certainly plenty to see. Sadly whilst travelling back my step father went into hospital on the Sunday and died unexpectedly early on the Wednesday. Apparently unbeknown to all he was riddled with cancer masked by all his other ailments. His sudden death caught us on the hop and this has meant we have been extremely busy since arranging the funeral, which was not until the 8th October so still to happen as I frantically write this, getting ready for an influx of relatives from down south and as executor, hence the delay to TRACKS. Apologies again to all who emailed during the last 4 weeks as ICRS has almost totally been on the back burner and answering emails promptly has not been one of my priorities. The only good news is that Mom has been released from the exhausting 24 hour caring role she fulfilled so we can all now move on more easily with just her to look after. Another interesting railway series ‘Walking Britain’s Lost Railways’ started on Friday 21st September 2018 on Ch5 with a look at the lost lines in my neck of the woods. If you saw it you will see what a stunning line the Moray Coast railway would have been had it been kept open. At least the viaducts at Cullen are still there and you can walk / cycle over them to get the view passengers would have had. As we post out over 11,000 copies of TRACKS per annum in plastic bags we are switching to biodegradable plastic ‘bags’ in order to do our bit for the environment, which as everyone must be aware is taking a severe hammering from excessive plastic waste. Each bag will be 4p dearer so effectively increasing the admin costs per member by another 44p each pa for posting 11 copies of TRACKS (2019). The biodegradable plastic is more opaque but the carrier sheet can still be read. Hope you all approve. Errata: Sep 2018 p55 Marcheys House signal box is in Northumberland not County Durham, p56 36501 should read 365501 Books / Sundries: UK Name Directory has sold out but a new edition will be released in early 2019. We have added BLACK polo shirts to our range to match the baseball caps. We will probably drop the dark navy once they sell out to keep 4 distinct colours in our range.
