It was put on our website. This 3.9% is deducted from the donation before being disbursed to the library, and covers all aspects of processing the transaction, including the credit card merchant rate, credit card transaction Agenda Item # 5a) charge, reconciliation, receipting and disbursements. We continue to organize and provide creative displays for all collections! We are continuing to provide excellent programming for children and adults! We continue provide excellent patron service by following Operational Standards and maintaining the level of service our patrons have come accustomed to. Agenda Item # 5a) Page 7 of 67 Library Carolanne Nadeau, CEO Summer Programming ... - Library Board This year for our younger children ages 0-6 we used the theme “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”. We asked some of our local area - OSM farmers to come in and speak to the children. Our farmer “Geraldine” came with a spinning wheel, fresh wool off of a sheep and a baby lamb. Another farmer “Marg” came and talked to the children about her Dairy Farm. Marg described the different types of cows that they had and how often they changed to different milking cows during the year. Then we had “Wooley Wonderland Farms” visit. Karen the Agenda Item # 5a) owner sang songs with the children. Next they got to go out and pet a large array of farm animals. The children and parents had a lot of fun, 30 children & 19 adults attended. Page 8 of 67 Library Carolanne Nadeau, CEO Summer Programming Continued ... - Library Board For our older children ages 7-11 we used the theme “Indiana Jones Doctor of Archaeology”. - OSM Each week was a different theme. We traveled through ancient Egypt to Mexico to China and Canada. The children learned that Archaeology is not “Shoot ‘Em Up Bang Bang” like on Indiana Jones movies. Laurie from Hiawatha First Nation came to visit us and brought artefacts that were found at Serpent Mounds Park. Agenda Item # 5a) Outreach Services We continue to provide Outreach Services to Hiawatha First Nation Child Care – 336 children and Northern Lights Daycare – 1,261 children In 2014 the library increased programing to 19 from 13 Carolanne Nadeau, CEO - OSM Page 11 of 67 Library - Library Board Library Carolanne Nadeau, CEO Seniors Programs ... - Library Board We received a grant from the Seniors Secretariat of Ontario to provide monthly workshops to help - OSM encourage and educate seniors in computers, health/wellness and crafting. This grant runs from October 2014 to March 2015. So far we have had 52 seniors attend our programs. We plan to continue programming for seniors based on this model. Workshops: Me and My iPad Healthy Mind Healthy Body Create Your Own Christmas Wreath Internet Safety Agenda Item # 5a) The library received an iPad, two laptops, and e-books Page 12 of 67 from this grant Library Carolanne Nadeau, CEO Initiatives ... - Library Board We were approved for a Job for Rural Youth position – summer 2014 - OSM We kept the youth on as Casual Clerk We received a grant from Industry Canada – Youth Initiative to provide Internet/technology assistance at our Bailieboro Branch We hired our Rural Youth person to fill this position. We also provided Free Income Tax Clinics at the Agenda Item # 5a) Keene and Bailieboro Branches which saw about 82 people use this service Page 13 of 67 Library Carolanne Nadeau, CEO Program Attendance and Membership ... - Library Board The library saw a decrease in program attendance in 2014 due to the - OSM implementation of all day junior/senior kindergarten and raising the cost of computer lessons from $5 to $10. In 2014 program attendance was 4,033 in 2013 program attendance was 4,855. Currently the library has 2,519 memberships; with 123 new memberships in 2014 – a 7% increase from last year. At total of 12,383 people visited the library in 2014. Currently we are undergoing a Patron Usage Scan – we want to get an Agenda Item # 5a) understanding of who our patrons are what their needs may be at our two smaller branches. We have begun the scan August 2014 and will continue Page 14 of 67 until July 2015.
