GRASP Scholarship Master List Looking for a specific scholarship? CTRL+F will allow you to search for key words. Many High Schools have a list of scholarships specific to their students. Don’t forget to send students to their school counseling office to inquire about local scholarships with applications available often in a “scholarship drawer” or folder. Hispanic College Institute Current full-time Virginia high school sophomore (rising junior) or junior (rising senior) with a GPA 2.5 or above can participate in this program. The program provides clear and practical college application and financial aid information. It also offers students the opportunity to engage with successful Hispanic leaders and role models who will help inform them about career and educational opportunities. There are only 100 spaces available, so students should apply early. The program will take place at Virginia State University from July 16 until July 19, 2014. This is a free informational seminar that will help you with the college application process and financial aid. If accepted, this is where you will compete for available scholarships. Network of Enterprising Women This scholarship is available for any female student residing in: Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Hanover, Henrico, Hopewell, Goochland, New Kent, Petersburg, Powhatan, Prince George, and Richmond City. The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above, demonstrated strong work ethic, and exhibited strong leadership characteristics. Application and essay are required. The essay must be double spaced, 12 point font, and should not exceed 2 pages in length. Virginia Grain Producers Association Scholarship This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to a current or future full-time student as of fall 2014; the student must be enrolled at a Virginia institution of higher education. Applicants must be closely associated with members of the Virginia Grain Producers Association (VGPA), including: members (or dependents of a member) in good standing of the VGPA, or an active employee (or dependent of an active employee) who is employed for at least one year. Required materials: your senior class photo, application, transcript, SAT/ACT scores, personal statement, and 2 reference letters. The Henrico Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship This scholarship of $1,500 minimum is for a Henrico County Public High School graduating senior pursuing a degree in education as a teacher or school-support professional. The recipient must attend an approved college the semester(s) immediately following his or her high school graduation, and must enroll for a minimum of 12 course hours per semester. You must submit with your application the following: essay, official copy of your FAFSA form, an official transcript, and a list of your school activities, volunteer and paid work experience. Application is due April 11th. Junior Intern Program at the Children’s Museum of Richmond This program is for any rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors in high school. The program is limited to 40 students and spans one summer and academic year from June 16, 2014 through May 17, 2015. The applicant must have a strong work ethic, evidence of a commitment to community service, ability to engage both young children and adults in play and learning. Student who complete service hours and receive positive evaluations will be eligible for college scholarships: . 500 service hours= $1,000 CMoR Service Scholarship . 350 service hours= $500 CMoR Service Scholarship Information and application are available at http://goo.gl/vh3ct6 The application deadline is April 15. Kiwanis Club of Greater Richmond Scholarship This scholarship is for high school seniors who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above. Recipient must enroll in a 4-year institution as a full-time student in the fall semester immediately following high school graduation. The scholarship is for $5,000 paid annually in $1,250 installments. Required with the application are: high school transcript with GPA and SAT scores, copy of SAR and EFC from the FAFSA, a personal statement, and at least 1 letter of recommendation from a school official. Kids’ Change of Virginia Scholarship This scholarship is for any high school senior whose parent was an injured worker and is a subject of a VA workers’' compensation case. In addition to the required scholarship application, the following are needed: transcript, SAR from the FAFSA, 2 letters of recommendation, brief description of the accident, first report of the injured parents as well as medical reports of the injured parent. The application deadline is April 15. The Mary Blackwell Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is for female college or graduate level students attending an institution in VA or DC. Up to 5 recipients will be selected and the scholarship amounts will range from $1,000 to $5,000. The recipient must exhibit leadership skills through extracurricular activities and volunteer or work positions. The recipient must have an interest in pursuing a career in finance, government, nonprofits, or public law. Lee-Jackson Scholarship Any junior or senior in a Virginia public or private high school may apply. The student should not have received a Lee-Jackson scholarship in the past and must be a resident of Virginia who plans to attend an accredited four-year college or university in the United States as a full-time student. Students who intend to enroll in a community college must plan to enroll in the college transfer program of the community college. The contestant should demonstrate the natural ability to succeed in college and have a sincere desire to attend. Financial need is not a requirement. All Virginia high schools should have copies of the application, which includes writing an analytical essay about either Jackson or Lee. Deadline for applications to be submitted to the principal of your school is February 7th (changes every year-usually due in mid-February). Eighteen awards available that range from $1,000 to $10,000. 2013 NAFEPA Scholarship Program The National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA) will be awarding three $2,500.00 scholarships in March 2013. These scholarships are given to honor three NAFEPA members who have shown and provided exemplary leadership and dedication to the Association and the students the organization represents. Eligibility is open to high school seniors who are presently enrolled in a public school or high school graduates who are attending their first year of college. NAFEPA offers three different scholarships: applicant is pursuing a degree in Education; applicant is pursuing a degree other than Education and applicant is pursuing any degree. The completed application may be returned by mail or electronically submitted to the region representative, by February 1. Hall Memorial Scholarship Program. Each year Virginia Credit Union recognizes outstanding student members of all ages through its Dorothy J. Hall Memorial Scholarship program. To be eligible for scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year, student applicants must: be a member of Virginia Credit Union (VACU), not just any credit union in Virginia; be the primary member of their own account (not just a joint owner on someone else’s account). Applicant's account must be in good standing, be a rising college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior who will be taking at least 9 credit hours per semester; be pursuing their first degree in an undergraduate or associate's degree program at an accredited college or university; have joined Virginia Credit Union by September 30, 2012. Students must attend to receive this award. Students must attend Mid-Atlantic Christian University in order to receive this scholarship. This scholarship has two award levels: . Level A: $10,000.00 . Level B: $15,000.00 • Level A: Is in the amount of $10,000 to be awarded each year to a limited number of graduating seniors from each high school or home school group who exhibit outstanding character and leadership. The scholarship will be allotted in increments of $1,250 each semester over a period of 4 years. Christian Character and Leadership-Minimum high school GPA of 2.5 to apply. • Level B: Is in the amount of $15,000 to be awarded each year to the two graduating seniors applying for the Christian Character and Leadership Scholarship who have the highest GPA of all the applicants from all of the high school or home school groups who applied for the Student of Distinction Scholarship.
