The song is cut, lyrics as heard in the film: Yeah, yeah Get up, get out Move on, move on, There’s no doubt I’m all wrong & you’re right It’s all the same with you I’m too thin, too fat You ask why, so do I So do I, so do I, so do I Yeah On & on & on & on On & on & on & on On & on & on & on Chorus: Don’t wanna grow up I wanna get out Hey take me away I wanna shout out Take me away Away away away away ... The song fades out as the shirtless Pete discards his bicycle, and heads in to his old school room to see a quote on the blackboard: “We know what we are, but know not what we may be.” - Hamlet (1600) After he rubs out the first half of the line, and contemplates it, music and head titles begin. Head Titles song: A shortened version of Spiderbait’s Outta My Head accompanies the head credits, beneath which is a montage of Gold Coast sights, building up to schoolies’ week. Lyrics as heard in the film: I should not be out tonight I should see the morning light I should know what's wrong or right I should be at home tonight But instead I'm goin' outta my head I should not be out tonight I should be in bed by nine I should try to stay inside I should be at home tonight But instead I'm goin' outta my head Ooh yeah, I feel fine when I'm with you Ooh yeah, I feel fine when I'm with you ... Extended instrumental, and then fade down as a couple of schoolies - Rodney and Brian - greet each other - “hey brother” - and exchange a fake ID card … The song keeps playing under, as the schoolies joke, score grog, race down the street, and almost get run over by a car. After a screeching of brakes, they shout at the driver, then head off to the same apartment block where Freda is pumping helium into balloons. Freda looks down at the boys arguing by the swimming pool, and then a phone call interrupts the music, and it disappears (coinciding with the director’s credit). I should not be out tonight I should see the morning light I should know what's wrong or right I should be at home tonight I should not be out tonight I should be in bed by nine I should try to stay inside I should be at home tonight But instead I'm goin' outta my head But instead I'm goin' outta my head Ooh but I feel fine when I'm with Yeah I feel fine when I'm with Yeah I feel fine when I'm with Yeah I feel fine when I'm with you Tail Songs: There are three songs which run over the tail scenes and then the tail credits: Song 1: Chemical Heart by Grinspoon. The original lyrics have a first verse, omitted in the film. (When Look for a ride and you need to get high my friend Spend all your time just walkin around instead Like black rose there's somebody to hold for them For them) The movie begins with the second verse, as Pete sits alone on the sitting beach, watches the rising sun, sees a sea-battered sand castle, and then runs into the surf in his clothes: Let's Go outside have nothin’ to hide for free Can't seem to see the forest from the trees Grass is always greener but how do ya know we'll see We'll see... Can't get started ... chemical heart Every time I get started … (you) pull me apart Can't get started ... chemical heart Every time I get started … you pull me apart … (Very short musical interlude as Pete plunges into the ocean) Forgotten Maybe things are right on the other side undone Better off wishin’ for the stars to kill the sun Like black rose if nobody can hold no one No one ..
