Jay Dr. Ida Kumoji-Ankrah Eastern Kentucky University, USA Eastern Kentucky University, USA Journal of Retracing Africa, Volume 2, Issue 1, Fall 2015 http://encompass.eku.edu/jora/ SUBMITTING A PAPER TO JOURNAL OF RETRACING AFRICA Journal of Retracing Africa (JORA), a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary Afri- can studies journal, welcomes submissions of original, previously unpublished manuscripts on a broad thematic and chronological range. JORA is committed to publishing articles that provide theoretically informed analysis on the social, economic, cultural, and political transformations in African societies during the pre-colonial, colonial, and post-colonial periods. It aims at deconstructing miscon- ceived, mistaken, and missing narratives on Africa and Africans, thus providing a holistic appreciation of the African experience. JORA invites you to submit articles, review books, review articles, serve as a guest editor on specific topics. At least two anonymous external reviewers will evaluate all manuscripts submitted for consideration. To ensure anonymous peer review, the main text should not contain the name of the author, nor contain ac- knowledgments that may reveal the identity of the author, especially in the notes. After the manuscript has been accepted, authors may provide acknowledgments. Authors will receive reviewers’ reports within two or three months after submis- sions. If the reports are favorable, contributors will be given three months to sub- mit a revised copy of their manuscripts. Contributors will have the opportunity to review copyedited and page proofs copies of their manuscripts before publication. To submit articles, book reviews, and review articles • click on “Submit Article” on JORA homepage at http://encompass.eku.edu/jora/ • create a new account (which is fast and easy); and then • upload your manuscripts. You can always login at any time to update your profile and check the status of your submissions. Journal of Retracing Africa (JORA) is published annually by Eastern Kentucky University Libraries in collaboration with African/African American Studies program at EKU and the Berkeley Electronic Press. FORMAT AND STYLE • Submitted articles should not exceed 35 double-spaced pages, including notes (in 12-point Times font). • Submit your manuscript, including tables, figures, appendices, etc., as a single MSWord file (PDF files are not accepted). • All manuscripts should include an abstract of about 200 words at the head of the main text immediately after the title. • Contributors should not include their names or institutional affiliations on the main text. Use a separate MSWord to provide a short bio data of about 100 words containing author’s full name, title, current affiliation, and research interest. • The citation style for references JORA recommends is the Chicago Manual of Style 15th Edition. All manuscripts must contain footnotes (not endnotes) inserted and numbered automatically by a word processor. • All margins (left, right, top and bottom) should be 1 inch, including your tables and figures. • Contributors who intend to reproduce in their manuscripts materials in which they do not hold copyright should obtain necessary permissions before their accepted manuscripts are be published. • Manuscripts must be in English, either American or British.
