Search for Missing Plane in Oklahoma Results in 21 Media Clips for CAP SUMMARY OVERVIEW Crews searching Thursday for a Heber Springs pilot whose flight went missing Oct. 21 found the 71-year-old pilot dead at the crash site that included mangled wreckage and a large debris field. The discovery occurred several hours after Civil Air Patrol found a weak transponder signal coming out of the southwest part of the county near the Pushmataha County line. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol helicopter headed to the area with LeFlore and Pushmataha deputies and CAP officers searching on foot. Elmer Ray Broadbent’s body and his plane both were found just within the Pushmataha County line about 2 p.m. The search generated several days of regional publicity for CAP – 21 media clips in all.
