Insert 2 x AAA batteries into the mouse as shown then replace the battery compartment cover. Remove the battery compartment cover and insert 2 x AA batteries into the keyboard as shown. Replace the battery compartment cover. Connecting the receiver Make sure your computer is switched off. Connect the green connector to the mouse port on the back of your computer. Connect the purple connector to the keyboard port on the back of your computer. Make sure the receiver is placed in a location which is relatively free from strong electromagnetic or transmission sources for example a monitor in order to ensure the best reception of the keyboard and mouse signal. Then push the button on the back of the mouse the upper left corner.) Please note that this step must completed within 8 seconds after pushing the “CONNECT” button on the reciever.When the mouse and reciever are connected, move the pointer. The LED should blink.This indicates the setting has been completed. If the setting has not been completed,repeat the process again. To connect the keyboard, push the “CONNECT” button on the receiver. Then push the button on the right side of the keyboard, at the top corner. Please note that this step must be completed within 8 seconds after pushing the “CONNECT” button on the receiver. Push the “SPACE” key on the keyboard, the LED will blink, the setting has been completed. If the setting has not been completed, repeat the process again. Installing the software Keyboard If you are using Windows 2000, ME or XP then you should be able to use the 7 extra browser function buttons and the sleep button. If you are using Windows 95, 98 or NT 4.0 you will have to install the keyboard drivers. Insert the Drivers CD into your CD drive. Click on START then click RUN. Click OK Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation. Installing the software Mouse Switch your computer on if it is not already on. To be able to use the shortcut feature of your mouse you will have to install the mouse drivers. Insert the Drivers CD into your CD drive. Click on START then click RUN. For Win NT4.0,95,98 and ME: Type D:\mouse-driver\Win9xNT\setup.exe For Win 2000: Type D:\mouse-driver\Win2000\setup.exe For Win XP: Type D:\mouse-driver\WinXP\setup.exe Where ‘D’ is the letter for the CD drive this letter may vary. They have the following functions: Back key: Pressing this key will let you return to the last viewed page. Forward key: Pressing this key will let you go forward to the next page (when available) Stop key: Pressing this key will let your browser stop the current loading of a page. Search key: Pressing this key will start a search engine for the internet. 4 Web/Home key:4 Pressing this key will start up your browser and/or startup your selected home page (please refer to internet explorer4 for4 more information on how to set/modify this home page address). Refresh key: Pressing this button will Refresh your current web page. 4 Mail key: Pressing4 this key will automatically startup your favourite e-mail application (e.g Microsoft Outlook). You can select Tools-> Internet Options-> Programs-> Email to change the default settings4 of internet Explorer.4 Favourites key: Pressing this button will let you choose from * your list of favourite web addresses. Calculator key: Pressing this button willactivate the calculator. Wake Up key: Pressing this button will turn your PC on from sleep4 4mode. 44 4 Sleep key: Pressing this key will switch the PC into sleep mode. Mute key: Pressing this key will mute the sounds Increase Volume key: Pressing this key will increase the volume Decrease Volume Key: Pressing this key will decrease the 4 volume. Sound key: Pressing this key will start a search engine for the internet. Play/Pause key: Pressing this key once will playback the music. 4 Press it again and the music will pause. Stop key: Pressing this button will stop the playback 9 Previous key: Pressing this key will skip back to the previous 4 position. 9 Next key: Pressing this button will skip forward to the next position. 44 PC Line KB200 Keyboard and Mouse.qxd 03/04/2003 10:57 Page 8 Using the mouse After installing the mouse drivers you will be able to startup the Mouse Control Panel by right clicking on the mouse icon which should be on the icon bar at the bottom right of your screen. You can also get to the mouse control panel by clicking on Start-> Programs-> KeyMaestro-> KeyMaestro Mouse. For Windows XP, please click on Start-> Programs-> Scroll Mouse-> Scroll Mouse Panel. Magic tab allows you to change the browsing speed and direction of the browsing button. Pointers tab allows you to choose your favourite pointer shape. Cursor tab allows the selection of special cursor functions such as trails for your cursor or loop function. Action tab allows you to redefine the mouse keys function and speed. Settings tab allows you to reassign mouse button shortcuts and/or switch Office 97 mouse mode on/off. About tab shows you the current Packard Bell version information. Orientation tab allows you to setup the angle of the mouse when moving upwards. PC Line KB200 Keyboard and Mouse.qxd 03/04/2003 10:57 Page 9 Using the mouse Also, after installing the mouse driver and starting the KeyMaestro mouse driver program you will have access to 12 special function icons by pressing the scroll wheel once. The 12 functions are: 1. Close the Application: 12 1 2 allows you to close the current application. 11 2. Internet Explorer: starts up the default browser (Internet Explorer) 10 3 3. Calculator: 9 4 will open the calculator. 4. MS DOS: 8 5 will take you into MS DOS windows. 7 6 5. Outlook Express: starts up Outlook Express 6. File Manager: brings up the File Manager window 7. Shut down: will give you the option to Shut Down your PC. 8. Auto Scroll: allows to scroll the page in any direction. 9. Media Player: will start up the default Media Player. 10. CD Player: will start up the default CD player. 11. Zoom: allows you to zoom into the page. 12. Control Panel: allows you to quickly change the settings. Take out the receivers connector and check both the receivers mouse and keyboard plug for possible broken pins.
