Renault Advanced Plus Extended Warranty Your Cover Explained This document sets out the terms and conditions of your extended warranty and provides details of the cover it provides. Please read this document and keep it in a safe place so that you can refer to it easily if you need to make a claim. Insurance Provided Subject to the policy terms and conditions and payment of the appropriate premium, the Insurer will pay the costs of repair and out of pocket expenses incurred by you as a result of the failure of any insured components occurring during the period and mileage shown on the policy confirmation letter. This mechanical breakdown insurance policy is administered by Car Care Plan Limited trading as Renault Extended Warranty Administration and underwritten by Motors Insurance Company Limited (MICL) which is authorised and regulated as an insurance company with the Financial Services Authority. Parts Covered Your Advanced Plus Extended Warranty covers the following components against mechanical or electrical breakdown (subject to the terms and conditions detailed in this document). Engine Camshaft, camshaft followers, camshaft pulleys, conrods and bearings, crankshaft and bearings, cylinder bores, cylinder head, cylinder head gasket, flywheel, gudgeon pins, oil pump, pistons and rings, push rods, rocker assembly, starter ring gear, tappet gear, tensioners, timing belts, timing chains, timing gears, valves and guides. All other engine components are not covered, nor are burnt out, sticking or pitted valves, or any damage resulting from the failure of a timing belt which has not been replaced as per the manufacturer's recommendations. Gearbox Internal automatic and manual gearbox components, electric governor, oil cooler, overdrive unit, transfer box and torque converter. Differential and Driveline CV joints, crown wheel and pinion, drive shafts, half shafts, pinion carrier bearings, propshaft, sun and planet gears, universal joints, washers and spacers. You are not covered for rubber boots. Casings Engine, final drive, gearbox and transmission casings, if damaged as a direct result of the failure of a covered component. You are not covered for damage caused by accident, frost or lack of antifreeze. Clutch Clutch cover, clutch fork and pivot, clutch plate, master cylinder, slave cylinder and thrust bearing. All other clutch components are not covered, nor are burnt out parts or general wear and tear. Fuel System (diesel and petrol) Lift pump, mechanical or electrical fuel pumps and tank sender unit (excluding damage caused by incorrect or contaminated fuel or the use of bio fuel outside of the manufacturer’s recommendations). Fuel Injection System Throttle body, airflow meter, idle control valve, overrun cut off valve, throttle potentiometer, fuel accumulator, pressure regulator, map sensor (except injectors and heater plugs). Propshaft Failure of the propshaft including universal joints, bearings and mountings. Shock absorbers Failure of the shock absorbers and strut inserts. Suspension The internal failure of the anti-roll bar, anti-roll bar bushes, coil springs and self-levelling units. Turbo unit Failure of the turbo unit and wastegate. Cooling System Failure of the Radiator, thermostat, thermostat housing, viscous fan coupling and water pump. You are not covered for clogging and sedimentation. Air Conditioning Failure of pump, compressor and evaporator. 1 Braking System Brake limiter valve, calipers, master cylinder, servo (or vacuum pump) and wheel cylinders. ABS Internal failure of the ABS pump, electronic control unit and sensors. Electrics Internal failure of all factory-fitted components. You are not covered for the battery, fuse, fuse boxes, lamps and LED illumination, bulbs, cigar lighter, wiring and printed circuit boards. Central Locking Failure of door lock, solenoids/motors and petrol cap locking mechanism. Manual and power steering Internal failure of all components. You are not covered for the air bag system, steering wheel and fittings, joints, bushes, rubber boots and gaiters. Wheel Bearings Wheel bearings only. Hubs are not covered. Oil Seals and Gaskets Oil seals and gaskets which require the removal of a major component – engine, gearbox and/or differential. Consumables Oil, oil filter, gaskets, anti-freeze and brake fluid required due to the failure of a covered component. General exclusions • This product is only available to renew an existing Renault extended warranty • Only available on Renault vehicles • Vehicles over 8 years old (or 100,000 miles from new) are not eligible • All other parts whether mechanical, electrical or otherwise which are not listed above and any other damage or loss arising directly or indirectly from a claim are specifically excluded from the cover provided by this warranty For general exclusions that apply to this warranty please see section 16 in the terms and conditions. Maximum Claims Limit The amount you may claim over the whole period of this warranty is limited to the purchase price of your vehicle. Out of Pocket Expenses In the event of a valid claim, we will reimburse unavoidable out of pocket expenses as follows: Towing charges If you incur unavoidable towing charges following a breakdown we will pay up to £60 (inc. VAT) to cover the cost. This only applies if Renault Assistance or Xtra Assistance is not available. Car hire Car hire is not provided for the first eight hours of vehicle immobilisation. After this period we will reimburse hire costs up to a maximum of £40 per day (inc. VAT) You will be responsible for the cost of insurance, fuel and ancillary expenses. Please note that the maximum period for which you are entitled to a replacement vehicle following a single incident is five days. Car hire must be from a Renault dealer or a recognised car hire company. Overnight accommodation If you are unable to reach your planned destination and find it necessary to book overnight accommodation elsewhere, we will pay up to £100 (inc. VAT) to cover the cost. Alternatively £200 (inc. VAT) may be claimed towards the cost of return rail or air fare. All out of pocket expenses must be supported by a valid VAT receipted invoice. Overseas Cover Your extended warranty cover is valid anywhere in the UK, which includes Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It is also valid in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) for up to 60 days a year. 2 Claims Process Repairs in the UK If you wish to make a claim under the terms of your extended warranty, please contact your supplying Renault dealer to agree a suitable time for it to be inspected and repaired. If you cannot return the vehicle to your supplying dealer, we recommend that you contact another Renault dealer to arrange repairs. Please bring this document and the accompanying policy confirmation letter with you when delivering the vehicle. Your Renault dealer will confirm whether the warranty is still valid and will check your service record to verify that the vehicle has been properly maintained. Having established that your claim is valid, they will contact Renault Extended Warranty Administration for authority to proceed. You may be asked to complete a claim form or sign the repair invoice. If you need any further assistance relating to a claim, please contact Renault Extended Warranty Administration on 0844 573 8035. Repairs outside the UK If it is necessary for a repair on your vehicle to be completed in the European Union or EFTA you will not require prior authorisation from us. In the event that the fault is covered by your extended warranty, we will reimburse the cost of repair following your return to the UK. In this event, please contact the Administrator on 0844 573 8035 for instructions on how to proceed. If you need to make contact while you are abroad, please telephone 0044 1274 260135. In the event that your claim is valid, you will be reimbursed in pounds sterling at the prevailing rate of exchange on the date the repair was completed. Please note that we may not pay the full cost of a repair which is completed overseas. The maximum we will pay for parts is the UK list price at the time of repair. The maximum for labour is the fleet charter rate which would have been applicable if the repair had been completed in the UK by a Renault dealer. Servicing Requirements To ensure that your vehicle is maintained in good condition it should be serviced in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations. Failure to comply with the manufacturer’s service schedules may invalidate your warranty. SERVICES MUST BE CARRIED OUT WITHIN 1 MONTH/1,000 MILES OF THE INTERVALS SPECIFIED BY THE VEHICLE MANUFACTURER, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. It is important that you retain your service receipts as they may be required to validate a claim. Warranty Renewal If the vehicle is within the necessary age and mileage limits at the time of expiry you may obtain a further extended warranty. We will write to you at the last address you provided with details of the cover available. Warranty Transfer Where you have purchased the warranty as an annual policy, if you sell your vehicle privately you can transfer the benefits of this warranty to the subsequent owner or user of the vehicle. If transfer is required, please contact Renault Extended Warranty Administration on 0844 573 8035. Please note: monthly renewing policies cannot be transferred.
