NGONGOTAHA NEWS The Sunny side of the Mountain - FLUORIDE FREE NGONGOTAHA Editor Ann Henderson Email: [email protected] Mob: 027 2379 204 website: www.ngongotahanews.co.nz NEXT DEADLINE: Tue 11 December 11am - November 2018 Issue THANK YOU - Thank you to all my friends residents supporters for you messages regarding my huge fight I had to get better again. I must pay a tribute to my loyal local General Practitoner, Dr Simon Firth for going beyond the call of duty to support me and make me aware of the diagnoses, treatment options and health advice. When faced with being unwell one must have confidence in those advising you and the advice you're given. I must also say the "crap" Rotorua Hospital gets and is often highlighted in the media as being far from a positive experience. I have had excellent treatment both here in Rotorua and from Orthopaedic specialist, and Mr Dass the Oncologist, together with the experts at the Katherine Kilgour Centre in Tauranga. I think it comes down to ones attitude and I have seen nurses, doctors, X-ray staff all treated badly by patients and families of those getting treatment. It’s not on for abuse. One thing that’s kept me focussed on getting well has been gardening as you will see from my posts on Facebook. My council work, my passion has not been neglected and support from Mayor Chadwick, Crs Hunt, Donaldson, Raukawa-Tait, Tapsell, and my long time friend and colleague Trevor Maxwell together with CEO Geoff Williams can’t be under stated. My wife Denise, whom I married 40 years ago together with our daughter Elizabeth (who visited me everyday) our sons, William ( who lives in Brisbane) and Cameron who lives at home have been unbelievably supportive and understanding. The birth of our third grandson (named Hunter) in Brisbane to Crystal and William Sturt has also been a huge focus and news from Elizabeth and son in law James Coppard that they care expecting a third grandchild from them in March gave me new goals to focus on. Our two grandsons Charlie nearly 5 and Finley nearly 2, keep you on your toes. As the article in the daily post stated I do not want sympathy but I have immense empathy with the hundreds of people in our local community fighting similar issues in their health. I just wanted to say your not alone, be positive, surround yourself with those that really matter, listen to your health Practioners and fight. Again thank you to everyone for your love messages and best wishes believe me you are sincerely appreciated.
