The Community Services Board is pleased to offer this publication of the Community Resource Directory to the residents and visitors of our community. Our directory reflects the many resources of the community and we encourage you to keep your edition handy for reference. Irricana is well known for its quie,t small town atmosphere, strong family values, and its safe and friendly community spirit. Our community theme is "Open the Gateway to the Country” and depicts a white picket fence as an identifying symbol. This symbol appears on most of the publications being produced by the Town of Irricana. It is hoped that both newcomers and established residents of Irricana, will find this directory a useful tool in making contact with the various service clubs, government services, recreation groups, seniors and youth services, volunteer organizations and more. Volunteer opportunities exist for many positions at the center. Admissions – Bethany Care Centre Airdrie is open to people of all faiths. Bethany Care Centre Airdrie – is a multi-level facility with accommodation for a 52-bed Residential Care Program and a 74-bed Long Term Care Program, with 22 beds dedicated to the care of persons with Alzheimer’s disease. Residential Care Program – an enhanced lodge program providing room and board with availability of extra services. Residents enjoy cozy and bright private rooms, sharing the bathroom with only one neighbor. Couples can stay together sharing a two room unit with a private bath. Long Term Care – for seniors and persons with disabilities requiring room, board and personal care under supervision of professional nurses. 7 HOSPITALS: Calgary Health Link – 943-LINK (5465) – 24-Hour Access to health advice and information. Nurses provide advice to patients about conditions that should be treated immediately in an Emergency Department, conditions they should see their family physician about the next day, or what self-care the caller can do at home. Elections are held every four years. The next election is scheduled for October 2017. During Council’s Organizational Meeting, the council nominates and votes for Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Council deals with local government business and establishes the bylaws and policies under which the Town operates. When setting their policies and procedures, the Council must follow the Municipal Government Act: www.qp.alberta.ca/documents/Acts/m26.pdf Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month at 7:00 p. m. at the Irricana Centennial Centre - Council Chambers - 222 -2nd Ave. Public is welcome to attend Council meetings and if you would like to have an item discussed at the meeting please contact the municipal office the week prior for the application for Submission to Agenda.
