In order to offer more support to the students, classes of S.5 and S.6 are split into 5 groups respectively. Small class teaching are conducted in Junior Form core subjects.The teacher-student ratio is 1:15. 2. To boost the teaching and learning effectiveness, for core subjects in junior forms, students are streamed into small groups based on their academic achievements so as to cater for learners' diversity. 3. Applied Learning subjects are offered in S.5 (Module 1) to cater for their learning diversities. 4. The School curriculum and activities may be amended timely according to school's conditions and students' needs. S.1 Admission, Orientation Activities & Healthy School Life Secondary One Admission Our school will accept discretionary places. Our school will participate in the Secondary School Places Allocation System through central allocation stage (Applicable for admission to S.1 in September 2020). Admission criteria and weightings for S1 DP: Academic performance 30%; Conduct and attitude 20%; Interview performance 30%; Achievements in extra-curricular activities 10%; Involvement in service work 10%. Orientation Activities and Healthy Life 1. To facilitate S1 students to accommodate to the new school environment and study life, a series of academic and non-academic “S.1 Orientation Courses” will be organized in July and August. For Example: Talent Shows, Adventure Experience Course, Iron Man Adventure Course, English Language Bridging Program, Discipline Training Day Camp. Students could familiarize themselves with their new school life through meeting their new teachers and social workers. They could also get familiar with the campus facilities and the learning resources. 2. The school promotes Environmental Education. College School Characteristics School Management School's Major Concerns: 1. Creating learning atmosphere, enhancing students’ academic capacity. 2. Promoting positive culture and all round development of students. School Management Organisation: 1. There are Core Members Meetings and School Board Meetings under the School Principal, to formulate school policies democratically. 2. All school policies are implemented by School Development Committee, Learning and Teaching Development Committee and Student Development Committee. 3. We have a fair and just appraisal system for evaluating the performance of all staff. Incorporated Management Committee / School Management Committee / Management Committee: 1. Incorporated Management Committee was established. The Supervisor and the Directors of our School Management Committee communicate closely with our Principal. They offer professional leadership to the school development and provide timely and strong support for our school. 2. The school board sets up an exclusive email for all teaching staff to strengthen the communication. School Green Policy: Cultivate students' awareness on environmental issues by integrating such issues into the formal curriculum and conducting co-curricular activities. Meals are distributed with customized portion in the school canteen so that the amount of leftovers and food waste can be reduced. Induction faucet, LED lighting system and Grade 1 energy labelled air-conditioning system were installed to offer a green environment. Learning and Teaching Plan Whole-school Language Policy: Our school utilizes mainly Chinese as our Medium of Instruction. To elevate students’ standard of English, a variety of English activities are organised to create a language-rich environment for the students to learn English. Learning and Teaching Strategies: 1. The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy has been set up for e-learning. iPad interacting electronic notes and school-based materials enhance the learning effectiveness and the habit of self-directed learning. 2. English drama training and Read Aloud Activities are some measures to motivate the interest of learning and build up self-confidence in student. 3. The Self-Regulated Learning Scheme has been introduced to encourage junior form students to foster the habit of Self-Regulated Learning. The Dr. Stephen Chan Self-Regulated Learning Scholarship was established to promote Self-Regulated Learning. In addition, free tutorial classes are conducted after school to promote learning habit and improve their academic performance. 4. Exam papers are set with the proportion of 5:4:2, consisting of questions with different levels of difficulty. As a means to promote students’ attempt, the bonus 10 marks from the Extended Part will simply be added, composing the 100 total marks of the papers with no conversion. School-based Curriculum: 1.
