Estimate: 1.750 / 2.300 euros Lot 11 Pablo Gargallo (Maella, Zaragoza, 1881- Reus, 1934) "Masque de Picasso " 1913 Bronze lost-wax sculpture. With the founder’s seal: "V. Gimeno Fun." The lot includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Jean Anguera Gargallo, the artist’s grandson, dated 6th November 2014, which indicates that this is an extremely high quality sculpture, true to the plaster cast that Gargallo made of his stone portrait of Picasso which can currently be found in the MNAC (Catalan National Art Museum) in Barcelona. The certificate details that Magali Gargallo sold this work of art to the sculptor Yves Revelli, through Llorens Artigas, soon after the Second World War. It also explains that the sculpture does not appear in the 1998 catalogue put together by Pierrete Anguera Gargallo, as the sculpture has only recently been located. The founder, Gimeno Blanes, was artistic director at the Tanagra Foundation in L'Hospitalet. 20.5 x 19.5 x 14.5 cm. Estimate: 63.000 / 80.000 euros. This drawing can be related to the three franc stamp, designed by Dali in 1978, for Postes de Francia, which went on sale through the French postal service in November 1979, according to Robert Descharnes, in "Dalí: la obra y el hombre", (Dali, the work and the man) published by Tusquets, 1984, page 412. The lot includes a photocopy of the Certificate of Authenticity dated 1989, issued by D. Enrique Sabater, Salvador Dali’s secretary from 1968 to 1980. This work of art was included in an exhibition of unpublished Salvador Dali drawings which took place in Barcelona in 1988. Also included is a photocopy of the article published in "El periódico" on 9th June 1988, in which this drawing that we are auctioning appears. 66 x 49 cm. Estimate: 25.000 / 40.000 euros Lot 17 Salvador Dalí (Figueres, 1904 - 1989) " Study for Paranoia " Ink and pencil drawing on paper. With handwritten french text by Dalí: “Presque rien - ce qu'il a manque a la peinture academique - Academia - et ce presque rien est - votre humble (tachado) orgueilleux serviteur". This drawing may be related to other works as " El gran Paranoico " (1936) and " Cabeza de mujer en forma de batalla", so possibly it is a work of the same period, years in which Dali produced the paranoiac-critical method, defined in their own words, as an « spontaneous method of irrational knowledge, based on the critical and systematic objectivity associations and interpretations of delirious phenomena.” With photocopy of the certificate from D. Made in 1965. On numerous occasions in 1965 Dali was photographed wearing glasses like these, which he, personally, wore to a Courrèges fashion show. There are also various photos of models of the time like Lotte Tarp and Sarah Meacham wearing them. The MET in New York, has an example of these Courrèges glasses which can be seen in their Collection Online.
