Three candidates were pre- selected. After serious study, Mrs Mary Estelle Mahuk from Vanuatu was chosen for this position. Mary Estelle will start working as of 1 June 2008. Mary Estelle Mahuk is from Vanuatu and she is Juan E. Barrios Cup (WRT) a teacher in sport and 3-9 June 2008 physical education. She is married to John Mahuk from Papua New Guinea and they have two children—one boy and one girl. 2nd Asian Grand Prix (WRT) Mary Estelle has already 10-16 June 2008 a large Sport experience in Oceania. Below are some of her positions and experiences. She was the Sports World Cup Stage 4 Development Officer with 23-28 June 2008 Vanuatu National Olympic Committee for seven years. In this position she did the following: Assisting affiliated National Federations Coordinating VASANOC Solidarity programs and World University Championships programs from Australian Sports Commission such as 7-20 July 2008 “Pacific Junior Program” and Oceania Sports Education (OSEP) Editor of VASANOC website Various games in the administration, logistical support and collecting results President of Vanuatu Disable Sport (VANDISPORT) and National Coaches Olympic Games Secretary General of ONOC Athletes Commission 8-16 August 2008 Ambassador of ONOC Anti-Doping Agency (ORADO) Selecting committee for “All Rounder Sports Scholarship” University of South Pacific Secretary General of Port Vila Athletics League European Masters Games Member of various organizing committees in Vanuatu 29 August-9 September 2008 (e.g. “Round Island Relay”) Secretary General of IUPA Athletics Club Mary Estelle will attend one month of Archery education at the FITA Middle East Archery Centre, then should be able to provide a great assistance to the archery family in Oceania. Field World Championships 1-6 September 2008 Page 3 FITA INFO 05/08 Women in FITA Committee IOC World Conference on Women and Sport With the topic "Sport as a vehicle for social change", the 4th IOC World Conference on Women and Sport was organized by the IOC in partnership with the Jordan Olympic Committee. It was held in Dead Sea, Jordan, on 8-10 March Paralympic Games 6-17 September 2008 2008, under the patronage of their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Our Women in FITA Coordinator Evelyn Papadopoulou (right on the photo) attended this meeting, along with other 600 delegates from 160 worldwide countries. FITA IMAP Committee Meeting in Antalya The Image Media and Archery Presentation (IMAP) Committee members met on the occasion of the World Cup Stage 3 in Antalya on Sunday 1 June 2008. More on the outcome of this meeting will be published in the next FITA INFO (end of June). International Foundation for the Development of Archery Meeting in Lausanne On 22 May 2008 the Board of the International Foundation for the Development of Archery (FIDTA) held a meeting at the FITA office in Lausanne with the participation of Dr Ugur Erdener (President), Mr Tom Dielen (Secretary), Mr Paul Paulsen (Vice President), Mr Giuseppe Cinnirella (Treasurer), Mr Jim Easton (Member), Mr Pascal Colmaire (FITA Development Director) and Ms Deqa Hussen (FITA Development Coordinator). Important decisions were taken during this meeting concerning the development projects 2008/2009: a) Olympic Games 2008 preparation of +/- 10 athletes requiring specific assistance b) Master Coaches Education awarded to COPARCO for 2008, co-funded by Olympic Solidarity c) Mediterranean camp co-funded by Justice for Athletes for 2 archers and 1 coach per Mediterranean countries with needs Page 4 FITA INFO 05/08 Further information will follow on the outcome of the above projects through the FITA INFO newsletter and/or the FITA website. The Road to the Games U.S. Olympic Archery Team Trials On Monday 5 May the National Archery Association of the United States (USA Archery) announced the final selection of the Olympic Team selected for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
