Prague, September 19, 2014 The 16th Congress of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science (CLMPS) Dear Professor Sober, On behalf of the Czech National Committee for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science and in collaboration with the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, we would like to express our profound interest in hosting the 16th Congress of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science (CLMPS) in August 2019 here in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic. As you probably know, many members of our National Committee for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science are professionally linked to the Institute of Philosophy, which is a part of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the largest research organization in the Czech Republic. The Institute of Philosophy is a leading non-university research institution in the field of philosophy and the humanities in the Czech Republic with nearly two hundred researchers. The Institute participates in a wide range of international research projects, it regularly hosts prestigious international conferences and meetings, and furthermore features a visiting scholar program which has allowed us to welcome many prominent philosophers in recent years (e.g., prof. John Searle in 2013 and prof. Noam Chomsky in 2014). Moreover, the Institute’s research structure, with about 15 research units, contains no less than three departments that focus particularly on logic, methodology and philosophy of science: the Department of Logic (represented by researchers such as Pavel Materna, Jaroslav Peregrin), the Department of Analytic Philosophy (represented, e.g., by Petr Koťátko, Ladislav Kvasz), and the Centre for Science, Technology, and Society Studies (represented, e.g., by Ladislav Tondl). 16th International Congress of Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science, Prague 2019 5 Prague, an architectural jewel of Europe, makes for an exceptionally attractive congress destination offering both historical and modern conference venues, hotels, restaurants, infrastructure and places of interest.
