Office of the City Manager TO: Mayor and Council FROM: Chris Hillman, City Manager DATE: October 14, 2011 SUBJECT: Issues Update CITY OF SURPRISE DOG PARK CLOSED OCTOBER 12 – 26. Signage has been posted on site for the last 3 weeks to remind residents of the closure. SURPRISE THREE STAR PARK BASKETBALL COURTS CLOSED OCTOBER 17-21. The basketball courts at the Three Star Park, located at 15825 W. Jerry Street, will be closed for resurfacing from October 17-21 and will reopen October 22. SPECIAL OLYMPICS. CRS and the Surprise Police Department will co-host the Arizona Special Olympic athletes, as part of the Arizona Law Enforcement Torch Run, this Friday and Saturday, October 14 & 15. The swimming competition will be held at the Surprise Aquatic Center from 8 am-3 pm each day while the Softball competition will take place at the fields at Surprise Farms from 8 am-4 pm. Opening Ceremonies will be held in the Stadium on Friday night starting at 6 pm with a parade of athletes and will conclude with fireworks and a dance for the athletes. Surprise Police Chief Frazier will welcome the athletes, coaches, family members and friends. ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE.
