The first events were organised with help from, but without official recognition of FISU, but in 2002 that recognition was given, and we witnessed the first World University Team Championship in Brugge. In 2007 we received the support of EUSA, the European Universities Sports Association. That also meant that the event became for Paul Magerman, who died four years University teams, no longer national ones.
