Courses numbered 50-99 are designated for Common Curriculum or do not count for the major. Courses numbered 100-199 are all introductory level offerings. Courses numbered 200-299 are those at the sophomore/junior level that may also be taken by non-majors. Courses numbered 300-399 are upper-level that are primarily intended for majors, i.e., which represent the depth component of the major. Courses numbered 400-499 are all advanced level courses for seniors, including those used to fulfill the Senior Writing Experience (WS), seminars, research, thesis and independent studies. Sun., Dec. 9th In order to preschedule for WINTER term classes, students must follow these steps: Create a conflict-free schedule including lab, lecture sections, and alternative choices in the event any of your course selections are filled. ALL STUDENTS: your appointment time and day will be available, along with any registration holds, on WebAdvising on a screen labeled “MY REGISTRATION RESTRICTIONS.” In order to register, all holds must be satisfied and you must meet with your advisor who will remove your web registration hold. If a course is a “petition” course (indicated by a “Y” in the Petition column on the course listing), interested students must request a petition online. YOU CAN PETITION FOR COURSES EVEN IF YOU HAVE A HOLD ON YOUR ACCOUNT. To make your requests, follow the instructions on Webadvising under the “Help with Petition Course Signups” link at: https://webadvising.union.edu/Help/Petition_signup.htm PLEASE NOTE: For petition science courses that count towards the Common Curriculum (GenEd) SCLB requirement (BIO- 103, 104, CHM-101, 102, ENS-100, 215, IMP-120, PSY 312. 313, 330) be sure to rate your preference among this group if you ask for more than one by indicating if you need it for Common Curriculum (GenEd) credit (SCLB), your major or minor. For petition courses that count towards the Common Curriculum (GenEd) SET requirement (BIO-206, CSC-106, 107, 108, 120, ECE-101, 218, MER-101 and PSY-410) be sure to rate your preference among this group if you ask for more than one by indicating if you need it for Common Curriculum (GenEd) credit (SET), your major or minor. CROSS-REGISTRATION POLICY The purpose of the cross registration program is to provide students the opportunity to study areas not represented by the offerings of their home college, at no additional tuition charge. In addition to general guidelines, each college has its own set of regulations, regarding cross-registration and students should make themselves aware of these for both their home campus and the campus they are visiting. Cross Registration has been a service of the Member Institutions of the Hudson Mohawk Association since 1970, when the Association was chartered by the New York State Board of Regents. MULTIPLE SECTION COURSES/LABS Special note to all students signing up for courses which have multiple sections: Due to the possibility of over and under enrollments in certain sections of multiple section courses or lab sections, the Registrar’s Office, at the request of department chairs, may switch students out of their originally scheduled courses in order to balance the sections. The New York Six Consortium consists of the following colleges: Colgate University, Hamilton College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Skidmore College, St. Lawrence University and Union College. Currently, only undergraduate language courses offered through an instructional model that allows participation from students outside the instructor’s home institution are being offered.
