How to Convert Conversions Multiply Divide BIG unit small unit small unit BIG unit 1 minute = 60 seconds 1 hour = 60 minutes ñ WEEK days ñ days WEEKS 1 day = 24 hours ñ DAY hours ñ hours DAYS 1 week = 7 days ñ HOUR minutes ñ minutes HOURS 1 year = 365 days Example: A school day is 7 hours long. How many minutes long is it? 1 hr = 60 minutes For every hour, there are 60 minutes. 7 hr = 420 minutes So, multiply 7 x 60 = 420 minutes. Example: February is 28 days long. How many weeks long is it? 1 week = 7 days For every week, there are 7 days. 4 weeks = 28 days So, divide 28 ÷ 7 = 4 weeks. Another way to express the length of the movie is 135 minutes.
