(866) 378-9758 www.theatricalrights.com Director's Message I’ll be completely upfront and say that when I heard NCCT was doing Big Fish, I groaned and rolled my eyes. A musical version of Big Fish? Really? The movie is perfect as it is; leave it alone! But I decided to put my judgements aside and read the script. I was surprised by my reaction to it. There were parts that I had no idea how they could be done on stage (how do you shoot a man out of a canon?), but the challenge intrigued me. The script was a 123 page puzzle. When NCCT offered me the job I was thrilled for the opportunity to solve it. Once the ball started rolling there were more puzzle pieces to be added to the mix. A lot of puzzle pieces. This included, but was definitely not limited to, hiring the production staff, running auditions and then having to choose out of the incredibly talented people who should be who, envisioning the set, creating a rehearsal schedule, making sure lines, music and blocking were learned, and, most importantly, having fun. And we did have fun putting up this show, but it was a lot of hard work. This show digs very deep with its story about an ailing father, Edward, and his son, Will, trying to understand one another. Will sees the world in black and white while Edward sees it in full color. It soon leads to Edward’s last moments on earth where Will finally understands what his father was trying to teach him all along. Live in the moment, be present, and live big. I hope this show taught the cast and production team this lesson. Life is too short to hold grudges, focus on the negative aspects in situations, and all that jazz. Live the life you want to live! That’s what I aspire to do after being introduced to this piece, and I hope you leave the show with that aspiration in mind as well. There are so many people to thank. My amazing production team, Colby and Gabrielle, my cast, my family. I can’t imagine doing it with anyone else. This was a dream come true, and I hope you all had as much fun as I did. Thank you for coming to see our show. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did making it for you. - Emma Rose Brooks Special Thank You: Underwriters The Byrne Foundation Granite Air Center Mascoma Bank Show Sponsors Lebanon Opera House Mason Marketing Show Angels Sponsors: Margaret Hunton Hypertherm HOPE Foundation Patrons Stanley Hunton Friends Emma Hadden, Wenig Family Supporters Luce West Family Production Staff Director……………………………………...
