In Part II-A, the General Population Tables were presented, while the Primary Census Abstract was presented in Part II-B of this publication. During census 2001, this publication has been presented as a single volume "General Population Tables", in which data in the form of Tables A-I, A-2, A-3 and A-4 have been presented. In Table A-I, the number of Villages, Towns, Residential Houses, Households, Population and Area have been..presented for Rural and Urban areas separately. In A-2 Table, decadal variation in population since 1901 has been presented for the State as well as districts for both areas separately: Table A-3 gives the villages by population size classes, while in Table A-4, towns and urban agglomerations classified by population size class in 2001 with variation since 1901 have been presented. In the 1971 Census, the concept of Standard Urban Area (SUA) was introduced, which remained there as Constant Statistical Unit during the three successive Censuses of 1971, 1981 and 1991, but at 2001 Census, this concept has been dropped. The Houselisting and actual Census Enumeration of 2001 were carried out under the able guidance of Shri Sunil Gulati, lAS, the then Director and credit for the successful conduct of Census 2001 goes to him. Before the preparation of this volume, he left this Organization for taking over charge in Haryana Government. I am highly grateful to him for providing us the valuable guidance and inspiration at every step in the collection and presentation of data for this publication. Publication of this volume is the collective effort of the State Govt. as well as Directorate of Census Operations, Haryana.
