The Online Welsh Rugby Championship Has Been Devised and Created by All Wales Sport Ltd

The Online Welsh Rugby Championship has been devised and created by All Wales Sport Ltd. The Online Welsh Rugby Championship - Bowl Final Preview by Ian Davies - chief Rugby writer Grand Finals Day gets underway at 6pm on Wednesday, 21 October with the Bowl Final between Rhydyfelin and Tycroes. Up for grabs is £100 for the winners and £50 for the losing finalist. It has been a strange online tournament for Rhydyfelin, who were formed in 1905 and last tasted success when crowned WRU Division 1 East champions in 2016-17. Rhydyfelin were also Championship play-off winners and Glamorgan County Silver Ball winners in the same season. In season 2017-18, the Rhydyfelin 2nd team were the Rhondda and East Glamorgan Division 2 winners and also captured the Mel Davies Cup. Rhydyfelin Youth were the Blues Division BB champions in 2007 and beaten finalists in the WRU Plate competition in 2015-16. President of Rhydyfelin RFC is Tommy David, a former dual-code international rugby union and rugby league giant. He was selected for the 1974 British Lions tour to South Africa and was part of the 1976 Grand Slam winning Wales team. After a process lasting over 50 years, opponents Tycroes were finally accepted as members of the WRU in 1990. Few of the players who had first hoped for membership in 1936 were alive to see their dream fulfilled. Tycroes lifted their first trophy in 1919, the Amman Valley League Cup, but their most successful period was in the 1950's when winning the Llanelli and District Championship Shield twice, plus the Lady Howard Cup in 1955. In the last decade 2011-12 and 2016-17 were promotion years in the WRU National Leagues for Tycroes, who were also crowned SWALEC Division 4 West champions in 2012-13.
