Authors Bios Monzer Kahf is currently professor of Islamic Finance and Islamic Economics, College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha Qatar. He taught at the graduate program of Islamic economics and banking, School of Shari’ah, Yarmouk University, Jordan, 2004-2005. He served as a senior research economist at the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the IDB Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, 1995–1999 and was a visiting professor at the graduate program of Islamic fi nance, at the International Center for Education in Islamic Finance, INCEIF, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during summer 2010. He has published 35 books, more than 80 articles and scores of conference and encyclopedia entries on Islamic fi nance and banking, awqaf, zakah and other areas of Islamic economics. He provides consultations and advises to Islamic banks and fatawa online in the area of Islamic fi nance and economics. He was awarded the IDB Prize for Islamic Economics, 2001 and the President of Syria Award for best University Graduating Student, July 1962. Amiirah Bint Raffi ck Nabee Mohomed is an M.Sc. Islamic fi nance graduate from College of Islamic Studies, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Doha Qatar. She worked as Shari’ah Coordinator at Century Banking Corporation (CBC) Ltd (Mauritius), 2014- 2015. Prior to her appointment, she was a Trainee in Shari’ah Audit at the Bank. She holds a B.Sc. in Banking and Finance with First class honors from the University of Mauritius and Professional Certifi cates on Sukuk, Islamic Funds, Islamic Microfi nance and Takaful from Al-Huda Centre of Islamic Banking and Economics (Pakistan). She has received several academic awards; she ranked 12th in Mauritius on Economics side (Girls) for the State of Mauritius Scholarships and 4th at national level in Islamic Studies (AS Level). She has participated in several workshops and conferences on Islamic economics and fi nance. Mr. Azizi Che Seman is a Senior Lecturer at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mr. Azizi received B.A from University of Malaya and MEc from International Islamic University Malaysia respectively. Mr. Azizi is the Chairman of Shariah Advisor of BANK MUAMALAT from 201 4 until now. He was the Shariah advisor of Securities Commission Malaysia, Shariah from 2009 to 2015, and Shariah advisor of Association of Islamic Banking Institutions Malaysia – (AIBIM) from 2012 to 2014. Mr. Azizi is the member for panel evaluators at MALAYSIAN QUALIFICATION AGENCY, National Accreditation Board from 2011 to 2014, Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance Malaysia (ASAS), Member For Special Committee For Fide-i Authors Bio 175 And Fisse Task Force, 201 4, (National). Mr. Azizi is a Leader of Sub-Project: Grant LRGS entitled “Concepts and Principles of Financing, Investment & Development of Higher Education Institutions Using Waqf Instrument” (LR001B-2013B) founded by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Mr. Azizi Che Seman is an Expert in Islamic Transactions, Islamic Economics, Islamic Banking, Comparative Micro Economics, Capital Market (Islamic Capital Market). He has conducted many courses and presented many papers on these fi eld in diff erences countries. Mr. Azizi has published many ISI, Scopus listed article in reff ered journals and he has edited books and books in fi eld of waqf. Asiah Kamal is a Ph.D Candidate at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Research Title: Microtakaful As An Islamic Financial Instrument: A Study Of The Elderly Muslim In Malaysia. Asiah Kamal received her BA and M.A in Shariah and Economics from University of Malaya. Miss. Asiah also works as Research Assistant at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia(2014-2016), under grant LRGS entitled “Concepts and Principles of Financing, Investment & Development of Higher Education Institutions Using Waqf Instrument” (LR001B-2013B) founded by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Asiah Kamal has published 2 articles in referred Journal, 2 Chapter in book and 2 proceeding. She has also presented conference paper in UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia (National) and UiTM Perak, Malaysia (International) and Miss. Asiah also has won the Gold Medal in Academy poster exhibition in fi eld of waqf which was organized by Academy of Islamic Studies, University Malaya. Muhammad Nazmul Hoque is a Ph.D Candidate at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. Mr. Nazmul Hoque received his BA in Shariah and Law from Al-Azhar University, Cairo, Egypt and M.A in Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh from International Islamic University Malaysia respectively. Mr. Nazmul successfully completed many courses in Shariah and Islamic fi nance as well as conducted various Shari’ah part time classes in some institutions. He has handled various administrative and research assistant duties in IIUM and UM. This experience given him confi dence needed to succeed in a competitive environment. Mr. Nazmul has Scopus and A,B category papers ( and some of the ISI and Scopus paper has been Under review) published in refereed academic journals such as in the International Journal of Law and Management, Sociology of Islam, Journal Al- Masāq: Journal of the Medieval Mediterranean International Journal of Ethics in 176 Journal of Islamic Economics, Banking and Finance, Vol-13, No. 3, July-September, 2017 Social Science. Mr. Nazmul is a Research Assistant at Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya, 50603 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia(2015-2017), under grant LRGS entitled “Models of Financing, Investment & Development of Higher Education Institutions Using Waqf Instrument” (LR001B- 2013B) founded by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. Mr. Nazmul has presented conference papers in various countries such as Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. Kazi Md. Tarique is an Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies, Southeast University. He has completed his undergraduate degree in Business Administration from North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2001. After that in 2005 he completed his masters in International Finance form London Metropolitan University (UK). Recently, in 2017, he completed his PhD in Business Administration from International Islamic University Malaysia. He has been teaching in diff erent areas of fi nance, banking and Islamic banking and Finance in both graduate and undergraduate level for last twelve years. He also delivers lecture at the Bangladesh Bank Training Institute as a guest lecturer on Islamic Banking. His research interest include Islamic banking and fi nance, Service quality, Multi-criteria decision making. He has more than 12 journal articles in peer reviewed journals of Bangladesh, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia France etc. He also presented papers in diff erent internationals conferences in Malaysia and Indonesia. Mezbah Uddin Ahmed is a researcher in the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA), Malaysia. He is also a Member of the Association of Chartered Certifi ed Accountants (ACCA) and an AAOIFI Certifi ed Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA). He one of the editors and writers of the Islamic Financial System: Principles & Operations (2nd Edition) textbook published by ISRA. He has published several articles on issues primarily related to fi nancial reporting of Islamic fi nancial institutions. He has obtained his BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK and MSc in Islamic Banking and Finance (MIBF) from IIUM Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance (IIiBF), Malaysia. Before joining ISRA, he worked in audit and assurance with a Big-4 affi liate accountancy services fi rm in Bangladesh. He has several years of experience providing lectures in ACCA and ICAEW courses. He has also trained students on AAOIFI and IFRS Standards for fi nancial reporting of Islamic fi nancial transactions. Dewan Mahboob Hossain is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting & Information Systems, University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He completed his undergraduate from the Department of Accounting, Authors Bio 177 University of Dhaka. Then he completed his Master of Commerce (Accounting) from the same University. After that in 2002, he completed his second Master degree in Accounting from the University of Western Sydney, Australia. After that he joined as a Lecturer in the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2003. In the year of 2013, he completed his third Master degree in Sociology and Anthropology from the International Islamic University Malaysia. In 2017, he completed his PhD in Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia. His teaching areas include auditing, accounting theory and research methodology. His research interests include corporate social responsibility and reporting, strategic management accounting and sociology of work. He has published more than 40 journal articles in academic journals of Bangladesh, the USA, the UK, Romania, India, Japan, Korea, Canada, Malaysia and Australia.
