By Has Excellency Sir J ohn Anderson, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath,. Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Island of, Ceylon, with the Dependencies thereof. John Anderson. HEREAS by section 34 (1) of “ The Ceylon Railways Ordinance, 1902,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful W for the Governor from time to time to declare by Proclamation any road or path which the railway may cross to be a “ minor crossing,” and whether such “ minor crossing ” shall he closed by gates or n o t: And whereas it is expedient to declare the road which the railway crosses between the stations of Panadure and Wadduwa, in the Western Province, and set out in the schedule hereto, to be a “ minor crossing ” for the purpose of the said Ordinance: Now, know Ye that We, the Governor, in exercise of the power in Us vested as aforesaid, do hereby declare the said road to he a “ minor crossing ” for the purpose of the said Ordinance, as from and after July 2, 1917, and that such “ minor crossing ” shall not be closed by gates. HEREAS the District School Committee of the School District of Jaffna have, in pursuance of sections 19 W and 20 of “ The Rural Schools Ordinance, 1907,” made the by-laws set forth in the schedule hereto annexed for the School District of Jaffna, in the Northern Province : Now know Ye that We, the Governor of Ceylon, in exercise of the power vested in Us by sub-section (2) of section 20 of the said Ordinance, and: with the advice of the Executive Council, do hereby confirm the by-laws set forth in the said schedule. And We do hereby proclaim and declare that they shall come into operation from the date hereof.
