Mathematics 1978 Professional Experience: Lead Quality Assurance Engineer with BMC Software - Houston, TX Community Involvement: Actively involved in a number of community organization s such as American Diabetes Walk to raise funds to fight for a treatment and cure for Diabetes, Alzheimer's Walk, contribute to Habitat for Humanity, Doctors Without Borders, United Negro College Fund (UNCF). Served as Chairman of the board of the Ronald E. McNair Omega Scholarship Fund a (501)C3, a Small group leader al Good Hope Missionary Baptist church and a Life member (National and District) of Omega Psi Phi lnc. where I have served in various leadership roles. Worked on the committee to establish the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Nu Epsilon Scholarship Endowment which exceeded $ 100,000.00 at AAM U. Alumni Involvement: Life member of the National Alumni Association, currently serving as National Vice President. Served 2 terms as Regional Vice President Region IV which was the winner of the "Thomas M . Elmore" award, President of Houston Alumni Chapter, Chair of the Conference planning committee, Executive sponsor for the membership committee and a member of the National Alumni Association scholarship committee. Served as chair of the National Alumni Association Conference 20 12, past Treasurer of Houston Alumni Chapter and annual donor to AAMU. Lead the effort to get the Alumni Association approved for CFC. Reason for seeking President position: Getting Back to The Basics • Growing the Membership • Increasing Scholarships • Building Relationships My goal is to move forward the National Alumni Association through Leadership and Vision . As President I will work intimately with Alumni to provide a medium through which alumni and friends can work to advance the growth and development of Alabama A&M University. Position President: Timothy C. McCanelley Nominated by: Timothy C. McCanelley Timothy C. McCanelley was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, the second of eleven children, having five (5) brothers and five (5) sisters. During his formative years, he attended Green Elementary and Vine Jr. High School then, transitioned to Austin-East High School where he excelled academically earning high achievements and graduated number seven (7) in his class and a standout athlete in the football program. Due to his outstanding academics and superior athleticism, he soon became a college football recruit to many programs receiving offers to further his education. Tim, on his own selected his university of choice, but later Coach Curtis Harris (AAMU 1970) put a recruiting pitch on him like none other and his parents assured, he would be attending Alabama A&M University or going nowhere. Upon realizing the choice was not his, Tim bought into the fact that he would be attending school to play football, earn a degree, and accept his life benefit from both, the plan is still working to this day.1 Arriving at AAMU, he would first make his mark in the classroom, excelling academically as well as at athletically earning academic all-conference honors and becoming the first Academic All-American AAMU Bulldog Football player. A leader both on and off the field, he aspired to lead the student body and was elected Student Government Association, Vice President. He also pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and held leadership positions in Nu Epsilon Chapter of the organization. In 1982, Tim graduated with honors from Alabama A&M University, earning a B.S. degree in Computer Science. Prior to graduation he was focused on his career path, he coop-ed at IBM, (Endicott, New York and Charlotte, North Carolina). Following graduation, Tim accepted a position at IBM Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. Later he would relocate to Dallas, Texas and continue his career which included an executive position at Accenture and other Fortune 500 companies with responsibilities managing budgets exceeding $25 million, annually. In Tim's alternate career he develops and leads businesses, advising clients on Real Estate, Investments, Career Direction and Business Ventures. He has been quoted in Black Enterprise Magazine 1998 and The BE "Guide to Building your Careers"2000. Tim is currently a program manager in th healthcare industry with a Fortune 500 company. I le is also a public speaker and motivator that strongly believes throughout life you should lead, help and provide. Shortly after graduation while in Raleigh, North Carolina Tim, along with others chartered AAMU Raleigh- Durham Alumni Chapter. His first leadership role with the National Alumni Association was the co- chairman of the Alumni Athletic Committee (1990 - 1991). He has attended and participated in Alumni events and activities in California, Texas, Washington DC, Virginia, Birmingham, etc. over the years. He has served in numerous other leadership capacities on the national level. Today, Tim serves as the National President of the AAMU Alumni Association, Inc. while maintaining his affiliation as an active member with the Alumni chapter in Dallas, Texas. Timothy is first and foremost a child of God; truly grateful to have had the privilege to wear the maroon and white and lives the "Bulldog Creed" for Life, giving of his time, service and financial support. Candidates for Alabama A&M University National Alumni Association Vice President Position Vice President: Joe Arrington Nominated by: Houston Alumni Chapter Nominee's Background: Graduated AAMU B.S. Accounting 1977 Professional Experience: Retired Shell Oil Company - Houston, TX Employed with Shell in numerous financial management and leadership roles interacting with Sr. management regarding operational activities (P&L, resource requirements, regulatory compliance, etc.) including accountable for development and achievement of business goals/results. I was also appointed as a board member of several Shell subsidiary companies, joint ventures and industry organizations to provide fiduciary oversight, ensure that adequate business strategies and controls were in place to achieve the organization's mission. I have extensive experience working in a global, team and technological environments with persons from various backgrounds.
