Can discuss all aspects of cancer and living with it. Free helpline (translation service available), plus several drop- in centres. Many booklets and factsheets, free to individuals. This is a free information service about cancer and cancer care for people with cancer and their families. The aim is to make information about cancer available to all and written in an understandable way. www.cancerhelp.org.uk Cancervive Self-help group for families, friends and colleagues of cancer patients. Several support groups for people from Mid Sussex district meet at 41 Western Road, contact prior to first visit. There are three support groups: one for anyone who knows someone who has been diagnosed with cancer, or who has undergone treatment and not yet recovered; one for those whose loved one's treatment has not proved successful and who are having to come to terms with the outcome. The third group is for those who are dealing with bereavement due to cancer. Each group meets once every three weeks. Help includes funding for specialist doctors, nurses, social workers, family support workers, youth workers, play specialists to provide care, support and advocacy to children and young people with cancers and their families in hospital and at home. Also runs homes to allow parents, children and siblings to stay together near the hospital. Free holidays for families to take a break from treatment in supported settings; grants to help families cope financially. Funds research projects to work on causes and treatments for childhood cancer and manage the side effects that treatment imposes on children.
