September 27-28 , 2020 • ONLINE Welcome Welcome to the 2020 Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) and Honor Society (NHS/NJHS) Workshop sponsored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) and the Texas Association of Student Councils. Student Councils and Honor Societies complement and support one another at the cam- pus level as well as share many members in common. In addition, student councils support all student organizations on campus. Therefore, this workshop is designed to provide training experiences in areas that are specific to student council and honor society and common to almost any student activity group. TASSP/TASC is excited and proud to host this event and welcome exemplary educators to our first virtual Advisors Workshop. We look forward to two days of connection, education, inspiration, and fun. The program was carefully designed to offer a dynamic combination of peer and professional presenters who are out- standing resources for any activity advisor. We have a help desk ready to assist you with any difficulties with the conference platform. The TASC theme for this year is RESET. We hope to provide what you need to be able not only to RESET for success this year but also to empower your students to become agents of change in this challenging year. The TASSP motto is “Above All, Students First.” TASC believes that when student councils, honor societies, and all other student led activity groups on a campus collaborate effectively and when advisors receive meaningful training, students are best served in Texas schools and beyond. (For all) Kristi West, Hardin Jefferson High School • Kristi is the Student Council advisor and Activities Director at Hardin-Jefferson High School, a TASC Summer Leadership Workshop Director, a former TASC Kim Karr, #ICANHELP • Kim was a middle school teacher for 13 years and Co-Founded #ICANHELP Advisor of the Year, the 2020 National HS Student Council Advisor of the Year, and the US Region 8 in 2013. Kim now gives students a voice by speaking full time, curriculum developer, and leadership nominee for the Earl Reum Award. Under her guidance, Hardin-Jefferson HS has also served as a TASC trainer.
