PARROT PRESS Metro Parrot Head Newsletter March 2010 NY, NJ, CT Vol. 18 No. 3 TALES FROM MY BANK OF MY BAD HABITS Can it be that the hottest Frosted Party yet has chased winter away? I’m sitting on my deck, outside in the sun, writing this article; and the snow has melted and it appears spring is just around the corner. Speaking of the Frosted Party, a few thanks are in order. As much as I want to thank everyone who made the party a great success, I always have a fear that I may miss someone. So before I start, let me thank and apologize to anyone who worked the event whose name maybe missing. Special thanks to our Long Island area coordinators who spent the last few months putting the party together. Ray and Ralph did a great job, and Ralph’s first event as an area coordinator was a hit. Great job guys. Thanks to Bosco and Nancy for the badges and Kathy Lucano for working the door. Rodney Olsen, Larry Sullivan, Ed Travers and Lorraine & Eric Rosen for their great donations to the raffle. Thanks to Lorraine Bosshard for the great center pieces and Larry DeGennaro for the stickers. Thanks to Alison for the games and Linda Masten for selling all of those raffle tickets and Peter Bosshard for dealing with the Hilton this past year, truly a thankless job. And since I mentioned the Hilton, should I thank them for not having the room ready on time, having the wrong size stage, giving away our hospitality suite and the high drink prices, I think not !!!!!!! Thanks to Steve Kareta and Changes in Latitudes for the great tunes in the Savoy and Craig Beierlein for the great tunes upstairs. Thanks to Tom Dalton for selling our new Metro merchandise and carrying all the donated food to our charity. And lastly, I would like to thank my wife Carol for making sure I didn’t fall down and break something else. Because of your generosity, we have been able to present Long Island Cares with 350 pounds of food and a check for $1,000, all in memory of Ken Do Scotto . So what’s next. How about the Islanders/Devils game on March 13 th and the March Happy Hour (East meets West) on March 20 th . A lot of Metros are heading to Punta Gorda Florida on April 8 – 11 th for Jim Morris’ Magic on the Water . And don’t forget our biggest fund raiser of the year, Metro and Morris, at the Acoustic Café and Captain’s Cove Seaport in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 11 and 12 th . Carol and I would greatly appreciate assistance from anyone in helping to obtain silent auction items for this year’s event. Finally, Jimmy Buffett will be playing Jones Beach on Tuesday, August 31 st . It looks like we’re off to a great start to a busy season in the sun. See you on the beach. Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville Partners with Orange21 to Produce Iconic Eyewear Brand CARLSBAD, Calif., Feb 25, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- World-renowned singer/songwriter/author and pilot Jimmy Buffett has teamed up with Orange21 to produce a signature line of eyewear for his Margaritaville brand. Launching in key retailers this summer, the premium eyewear line joins the Margaritaville products that include all of the essentials for the tropical escape lifestyle. The collaboration with Orange21 was a natural choice for Margaritaville, "America's leading lifestyle brand." Jimmy Buffett has personified the aviator/adventurer for three decades and his evocative lyrics and lifestyle have inspired a cross-generational following. The Margaritaville concept translates vividly into attire, foods, spirits, and party/tailgate essentials, attracting a diverse customer base that enjoys bringing Margaritaville with them wherever they go. Orange21 is a premium producer of eyewear. Based in Carlsbad, California, the Orange21 brands -- SPY Optic and O'NEILL Eyewear - have become market leaders in both style and quality. The addition of the Margaritaville Eyewear line to its growing stable of brands is another great story from the people who invite everyone to "Live Through Our Lens." "Orange21 is honored to be producing this line of eyewear for Jimmy and for Margaritaville. Jimmy's life work continues to touch so many people and has basically defined the notion of FUN for all the right reasons. That's the kind of friends we like to hang with!" says Stone Douglass, CEO of Orange21. "Adding Margaritaville Eyewear to our lineup is a continuation of our multi-branded strategy at Orange21 and we look forward to continued success as an expanding and authentic leader in the lifestyle eyewear market." The story is just about the first few hours of Day One. So this is Part 1 of two or three parts in a couple of newsletters. For those who never went to MOTM, I think you will enjoy getting a good picture of what I experienced. My First MOTM—2009 By Carole J.
