It a further g tion to feel that some success has attended these efforts . This fragmentary sketch has cost some time and expense ; yet it has i been a diversion from the dut es of the pastorate , which every m i i nister needs , at the same t me it has been a labor of loyalty and love . It mi ght appear from the pages of this booklet that our people ai h u r ch were m nly of the Episcopal C , but the record does not jus if E isco t . y such a conclusion In the days of the Colonies , when the p on pal Church was the first the ground , our people with many oth niz im ers , at once recog ed the value and portance of the Sanctuary, ! and so naturally threw their in uence , and gave their support in in mi ma taining the Altar of Jehovah regardless of creed . In the year 1 there were eight ni sters b earing the name of Price , in the Southern Presbyterian Church . So far as one is able to judge the family has been by temperament and thought most naturally inclined to the doctrines of the Presby l i terian faith and po ty . To the family this booklet will no doubt occupy a uniq ue p o sition from the fact that several of the most prominent characters mentioned were Generals in contending armies , during the war between the States : Generals Samuel Woodson Price of Kentucky with William Bedford Royall of Missouri for the Union Cause ; and General Sterling Price with his sons , General Edwin W . Price i and Colonel Celsus Pr ce , all of Missouri , in the Confederate Army . Certain members of the family who have devoted much care ful study to the subj ect have generously lent their aid and sup port to the project .
