Chakras General Description The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit language and means “spinning disk”. Each chakra is an energy vortex which expands outwardly and contains smaller vortexes within. These are believed to connect with and influence body organs, glands and nerve centres. We have seven main chakras in the body, connecting into a main energy channel along the spinal cord, linking all main chakras. There are also many smaller chakras over the body. Each main chakra connects the physical body to a specific energy body, allowing these non‐physical parts of our being to affect our physical body and mind. The 7 Chakras Base Chakra Location: Base of the spine (coccyx area) Colour: Red Organs: Bladder, genitals... Identity: Physical Functions: Grounding, connection to physical body and physical world, survival instincts, feeling safe... Balanced Energy: Centred, grounded, balanced control over the material world and physical body… Sacral Chakra Location: Below the navel Colour: Orange Organs: Urogenital system... Identity: Pleasure & Inner Child Functions: Enjoyment of life, creativity, pleasures, desires, sexuality, emotions, inner child connection… Balanced Energy: Creative, emotionally balanced, open to one’s emotions, balanced sexuality… 4 of 10 Chakras and Energy Bodies www.ashati.org Solar Plexus Chakra Location: Below ribcage Colour: Yellow Organs: Stomach, gall bladder, adrenal glands, liver... Identity: Control, personal power & the lower consciousness Functions: Personal power, control, vitalises the nervous system, metabolism, digestion, assertiveness, radiance… Balanced Energy: Outgoing, open‐minded, respectful, assertiveness, confident… Heart Chakra Location: Centre of sternum (centre of chest) Colour: Green (also pink) Organs: Heart, thymus gland, circulatory system, lungs... Identity: Connection to aspects of self and to others Functions: Anchors the soul into the body, energises the immune system, forgiveness, compassion, love, acceptance, contentment, relationships (any kind)… Balanced Energy: Compassionate, humanitarian, can see the good in others, nurturing, empathetic, healing, gentle, open to feeling inner guidance… Throat Chakra Location: Base of the throat Colour: Light blue Organs: Thyroid, parathyroid, throat, upper lungs... Identity: Archetypal Functions: Energises the lower brain and the nervous system, vision, inner vision clairvoyance, visualisation, explicit knowledge, clarity… Balanced Energy: Can receive conscious spiritual guidance, clairvoyance, clear mind, can visualise, ability to see life patterns… Crown Chakra Location: Top of the head Colour: White / purple Organs: Pineal gland, cerebral cortex... Identity: Higher‐self connection Functions: Vitalises the upper brain, connection to one’s higher‐self, spirituality, inspiration, intuition, unity, selflessness... Balanced Energy: Open to higher dimensional energy and intuitive guidance, access to the higher‐ self and the unconscious mind, spirituality, service, faith, peace... 2. Energy Bodies Definition Energy bodies are within and extend beyond the physical body, creating the “aura” and different levels of thoughts and emotions. They are connected to the chakra system, and through it, to the physical body, the brain and the conscious mind that it creates. These energy bodies are made of energy vibrating at different levels. They however interpenetrate and affect each other. The energy bodies can be compared to the many different TV signals simultaneously existing all around us, in the same space, and individually identifiable by their specific frequency. However, unlike TV signals, energy bodies do affect one another, directly or indirectly. Learning about the energy bodies is the key to understanding how energy based healing techniques can achieve such visible and profound results. 6 of 10 Chakras and Energy Bodies www.ashati.org Although the physical body is not included as one of the human energy bodies, it is also made up of pure energy, on the subatomic level and beyond. Quantum physics offers more details about this level of physical matter. It is also important to understand that energy bodies are not all required to create the thoughts and emotions that we experience in the physical body. As long as your physical body (and brain) is alive and connected to your spirit, it will be able to let you experience thoughts and emotions. The energy bodies are additional levels of mental or emotional influences that affect your physical body, its awareness and at times its health. This connection to your spirit is currently done indirectly through an energy body called the soul, which is directly connected to your physical body. The Etheric Body (connected to the base chakra): The etheric body exists within the physical body. It replicates every part that creates the human body, and matter in general. Its main purpose is to form an energy template, or matrix, for the development, maintenance and repair of the physical body. It can be understood as a link between our physical self and our energy bodies, allowing them to have an influence on the physical body’s balance and development. This can be a positive influence, or it can be experienced as negative when repressed energies or other energetic blockages generate physical imbalances. The etheric body contains a vibrating energy counterpart for each organ, blood vessel, bone, etc. Whatever originates in the etheric body will, over time, be reflected in the physical body and may create what we call diseases. A disease therefore often appears in the energy field before it appears in the physical body. Conversely, traumas to the physical body (e.g. broken bones, burns, incisions...) will be immediately reflected in the etheric body. The Reiki and the Alsemia 1 and 2 energy activations are especially effective at healing, clearing and balancing this energy body. The Lower Emotional Body (connected to the sacral chakra). The lower emotional body follows the general shape of the physical and etheric bodies, but it is more amorphous and fluid, and it extends outwardly by a few centimetres. This body does not duplicate the physical body; it is more like an energy field. It contains moving energy "blobs" or "clouds” of different colours, each being felt as a specific emotion. These colours may vary from bright clear hues to dark muddy ones, depending on the type of emotions. 7 of 10 Chakras and Energy Bodies www.ashati.org Repressed emotions (emotions completely or partially disconnected from the person’s conscious mind) become stagnant blobs of energy in the lower emotional body. If these clouds of energy are also located inside the etheric body, which is very likely, they can disrupt the flow of energy within it, and over time this can lead to physical conditions. In this body, each of the seven main chakras appears in a different colour. These colours are the most commonly used ones (provided in the above section on chakras). The Lower Mental Body (connected to the solar plexus chakra). This bright yellow energy field is composed of even finer energies and structures, which influence our brain with the creation of thoughts and beliefs. These energies correspond to a lower level of mental energies, which, at times, can be felt as strong and controlling thoughts and beliefs. The level of consciousness they form is disconnected from the soul, and from the spirit within it. This body usually extends by a few centimetres from the lower emotional body. Within this body, individual thought forms appear as small blobs of light of different shapes and intensities. A strong connection exists between thoughts and
