Descendants of Joseph Turnpenny 17 June 2011 First Generation 1. Joseph Turnpenny was born in 1764 in Yeadon. He lived in Hightown, Birstall on 12 Nov 1786. On 12 Nov 1786 he was in Razor Grinder. Shown on Williams Baptism. Joseph appeared in the census in 1841 in In the area, Henshaw Lane, Moor Lane & Swine Car Lane, Yeadon.. In 1841 he was in Umbrella Maker.. He died in 1843 at the age of 79 in Otley (2Q1843-23-350)(79). On 22 Oct 1848 Joseph was in Grinder - as shown on sons marriage certificate.. Note, The basis of this tree was from Peter Russel from High Wycombe, who is tracing his Turnpenny ancestry from Ann 7th July 1826. With the exception I changed the head of this tree to Joseph and added further details. (March 2006) On finding the 1841 census for Yeadon this clarified this tree and added extra legs, but I now think that Joseph 1764 is the son of Joseph 1733 on my tree (No1). I purchased the tweezers in September 2008 thinking that they were part of his tool kit but now think he was actually making these tweezers as another identical set have appeared on ebay on the 17th June which I will bid for. William Turnpenny was born in 1786 in Hightown, Birstall. He was baptized on 12 Nov 1786 in Hartshead, York. He was baptized on 24 Jul 1791 in Guiseley (IGI). He appeared in the census in 1841 in Grey Lane, Otley. In 1841 James was in Umberella Maker. On 17 Jun 1845 he was in Umberella Maker ( at sons marriage). In 1848 he was in At marriage Grinder. James lived in At time of marriage Otley on 12 Oct 1848. He appeared in the census in 1851 in Croft Green, Otley. In 1851 he was in Razor Grinder & Cloth Dryer. James appeared in the census in 1851 in Walkergate, Otley.. In 1861 he was in Cylinder & Block Dresser.. He appeared in the census in 1871 in West Cresent, Otley. In 1871 James was in Cutter. He died in 1872 at the age of 81 in Wharfedale (4Q1872-9a108)(81). On the 1841 census it says age of 45 & on the 1871 census he is a boarder staying with Joshua Dawson. On his marriage to Mary, Joshua was one of the Witnesses. James Turnpenny and Rebecca Flesher were married on 31 May 1814 in Otley (IGI). Rebecca Flesher, daughter of Miles Flesher and Margaret Childs, was born in 1791. She appeared in the census in 1841 in Grey Lane, Otley. She died in 1847 at 1 Descendants of Joseph Turnpenny 17 June 2011 the age of 56 in Bradford (3Q1847-23-120). Marriage certificate shows Mary Watnough, Widow, her father is William Whittaker a Tailor, James is shown as a widower. The witnesses were Joshua Dawson & William Daphne. Mary Watnough, daughter of William Whittaker, was born in 1795 in Otley. She lived in At marriage Otley. on 22 Oct 1848. She appeared in the census in 1851 in Croft Green, Otley. Alfred must have died at birth and his mother Ann shortly afterwards, may have been a birth complication. John Turnpenny and Ann Whitaker had the following children: i.
