On what turned out to be a beautiful sunny May afternoon, the community was able to honour a tradition that stretches back 100 years and is now unique in Australia. We have been very fortunate to have a number of special guests over the last few years: the Governor-General, Sir Peter Cosgrove; the Archbishop of Sydney, the Most Reverend Anthony Fisher; the Executive Director of Edmund Rice Education Australia, Dr Wayne Tinsey; and this year, Brother Robert Wallace AM, former Head of Waverley College celebrating his fiftieth Jubilee as a Christian Brother. As always it is greatly appreciated and goes a long way in making the afternoon enjoyable for those who attend. We hope you had the opportunity to meet new acquaintances or catch up with those you may not see regularly. Term 2 Meeting Postponed We will not be holding our Term 2 meeting on Wednesday 11th May. Over the last few months we have met with Mr Paxton to discuss ongoing plans for the Mothers’ Club. These discussions resulted in a meeting with members of the P&F Executive, Greg Bodkin, Michael Jaeger, Mr Paxton and ourselves to plan an approach that would amalgamate the Mothers’ Club and P&F roles and functions into one entity. Below is an outline of what has been discussed. We will be meeting again over the coming months to discuss detail so please look out for updates. In Term 2, 2016 the two groups will meet to formulate a new constitution incorporating the objectives of both groups and with a strong focus on community engagement. The meeting AN EVENING WITH will also develop a transition plan. The new organisation is expected formalise the establishment of Parent Year Group PROFESSOR IAN HICKIE Representatives as a conduit for parent input on ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH and participation. The current activities of the Mothers’ Club will be maintained by the new organisation, including THUR, 16 JUNE 2016 operation of the Clothing Pool and support of functions like the May Procession and Year 12 7.00 - 8.30PM Graduation Luncheons.
