There were many good rides, despite the disruption that COVID-19 caused. Spectators were few and far between to avoid crowds at ring side; not our usual practice of supporting our barn mates and friends in the show ring! Many new rules were put in place to ensure social distancing and protection of show staff and competitors. It is now the norm to see masks worn throughout show grounds. This new normal has made it possible to have a show season, and we must maintain these practices to ensure that the season will not be cut short as the number of cases of COVID-19 continue to rise. Save taking your group pictures until after this pandemic is over and for the sake of continuance of the sport (unless, of course masks are included). Posting group pictures on Facebook without masks can be a red flag to those from USEF who are monitoring show activity. Thank you to all of the competitors who came out and participated in our brave new world. Your co- operation and up-beat attitudes made this a great show. Once again, it goes without saying that I am eternally grateful to those whose hard work and dedica- tion made this all possible. Without them there would be no show. I want to thank all of the volun- teers: Katie Miskovic, Joan Pecora, Pam Lang, Laura Jensen, Nicole Mosta. Without all of these folks; competitors, volunteers, staff and officials, our event would not have happened, and we would not have had the distinction of being one of the first shows held during the COVID-19 Pandemic Year of 2020. On a final note, because of COVID-19, the shortened season and the number of cancelled events, the board is revising the rules for this year’s year end awards. The requirements will be relaxed in alignment with the steps that USDF, USEA and USEF are taking. They will be posted on August 15 on the IDCTA website (www.idcta.org) and will be sent to you in an eblast. Stay tuned! Happy and healthy riding! Enjoy the hot weather (sometimes hard to do)!
