Our five-year plan was agreed in November 2019 under the governance of the CTE District Board. Rooted within Bradford district’s workforce development plan ‘People, Skills and Prosperity’ we set out a bold vision for Careers & Technical Education (CTE) across Bradford district. With an outstanding partnership of business and educational leadership and recent team growth; the partnership are now established to provide visionary direction and guidance to support, build, and sustain partnerships, career pathways, and delivery models to improve CTE in the District and outcomes for young people. Our mission is to grow CTE alliance with our partners that will engage students in meaningful learning. Connecting student’s interests and imparting deeper learning as to how technical, academic skills and knowledge application supports education and ultimately career pathways. As a result, this contributes to growing the economy of the District through meeting the current and future skill needs of businesses in Bradford district and beyond. This year’s key activities have spanned the development of services as we reviewed and reset our approach, with a continued focus on delivering impact, making a real difference to our young people and our business community. There have been a total of 20 primary careers events that took place involving 3667 pupils. The project has been extended to August 2021. Primary Events The STEM Employers and Business Convention, hosted at the Science Media Museum in November 2019, was attended by over 50 teachers, as well as local employers and educational providers offering support with careers-related learning in primary schools. CTE Annual Report 2020 7 The Carlton Bolling Network Event, hosted at the Science Media Museum in July 2019 resulted in the creation of a Careers Hub, an early intervention resource for schools as a targeted way of raising children’s aspirations and broadening their horizons. The Hub will support employer and business experiences for all primary schools in the Bradford district. Evidence suggests that giving children the chance to meet people from the world of work helps them to see the meaning and relevance of the subjects they are studying at school. Embedding experiences of the real-world in learning and the school curriculum can lead to increased motivation resulting in increased educational attainment. CTE Primary Partnership Board Formerly known as the “Heads Reference Group” the Primary CTE Partnership Board was created to support and steer the development of career-related learning in primary schools. Bradford district has 166 primary schools and the membership reflects a range of both school and community representatives who support provision across these.
