Commenting on the launch, Devika Prabhu, Associate Director, Programming, Walt Disney Television International India said, “We are very excited about extending the Hungama brand of entertainment in Tamil and Telugu. And we are confident of reprising the success that we have witnessed with the Hindi feed owing to its fun positioning, endearing characters and simple humorous story lines, in settings with family, school and friends which kids relate to.” Three of the top five shows for kids namely Doraemon, Shin Chan and Kiteretsu are on Hungama TV. “Showcasing high quality content that is locally relevant to our viewers is a priority for Disney multiplex of channels whether it is through our content, languaging or the channel environments,” adds Prabhu. The kids’ entertainment market is an underserved segment and with this initiative, Hungama TV is looking to grow the kids’ genre as a whole in South India, by raising the bar on quality and relevance of content.
