Datum Juni 2015, Wagenfeld – EFMK 122 Conclusion • Land purchase was done by the Landkreis Diepholz (until app. 2004) • Land on mineral soils at the borders of bog complexes was purchased • Land consolidation with a focus on nature protection (and climate protection) were/are an appropiate tool for peatland resotration • Buffer zones and extensive use of shallow drained grassland in the periphery are important for nutrient and hydrological mangement of peatland restoration • Today adapted and wet agriculture on peatland (paludiculture) should be included in restoration and land consolidation plans • The new EU funding period (EFRE, ELER, LIFE, etc. ) allows to integrate peatland restoration and alternative land-use for the reduction of GHG emissions • Let´s continue – Let´s start LIFE ActionTitel der Präsentation,- 18./19.
