Medical Education (1978-1990) Courses, lectures, and seminars were given to medical students, residents and fellows during my tenure as a Medical Resident (1979-1981), Chief Resident (1981-1982), Pulmonary Fellow (1985-1986) and as a Faculty Member in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine (1986-1990), covering general medical topics as well as pulmonary, critical care, and environmental epidemiology subject matter. Medical Grand Rounds: Grand rounds presentation on “Nocturnal Asthma” to the Medical staff, residents and medical students at St. Raphael’s Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut, a teaching hospital affiliated with Yale University School of Medicine, in January, 1981. Pulmonary Medicine Grand Rounds: Seminar Presentation on “Immunological Effects of Cigarette Smoking” to the faculty, residents and fellows of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, October 1990. Industrial Ergonomics: Organized and taught a 3-credit course in ergonomics (EOH 2063) for occupational medicine residents and graduate students in environmental and occupational health. Occupational and Environmental Health: Organized and directed a new 3-credit core course for the occupational medicine residency program (EOH 2005). This course will also be available for Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for occupational medicine practitioners and other health professionals wishing to increase their knowledge about environmental and occupational health. Health, Disease and Environment: Taught segments on occupational diseases, noise hazards and heat stress, and accidental injury in the workplace in an introductory course for graduate students in the Graduate School of Public Health. Immunotoxicology: Assisted in an Immunotoxicology course taken by all occupational medicine residents. Topics focus on state of the art immunological concept and their application to occupational and environmental health. Journal Club: Organized and directed an Occupational Medicine Journal Club for residents in occupational medicine and students and faculty in related disciplines. Organ Systems Toxicology: Taught segment on Toxicology of the Hematopoietic and Immune Systems. Repetitive Motion Disorders: Lecture presentation on Cumulative Trauma Syndrome and Repetitive Motion Disorders to the Dean’s Staff of the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh, March 1995. Presented: “Serum Cytokines in Population Studies of Respiratory Disease” at Environmental and Occupational Health Department Seminar, April 1996. Presented a review of the Institute of Medicine’s study on Agent Orange to the Risk Science
