HILLSDALE BOARD OF EDUCATION HILLSDALE, NEW JERSEY WORK SESSION/ REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 12, 2018 MINUTES 1. CALL TO ORDER The Board of Education of the Borough of Hillsdale held a Work Session/Regular Meeting at the Ann Blanche Smith School on Monday, November 12, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. by Kathleen O'Flynn, President and Presiding Officer. 2. SALUTE TO THE FLAG 3. OPENINGSTATEMENT The New Jersey Open Public Meetings Law was enacted to insure the right of the public to have advance notice and to attend the meetings of public bodies at which any business affecting their interests is discussed or acted upon. In accordance with the provisions of the Act, the Hillsdale Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and place thereof posted at the Hillsdale Borough Hall, Hillsdale Avenue, Hillsdale; the Hillsdale Public Library, 509 Hillsdale Avenue, Hillsdale; the Hillsdale Board of Education Office, 32 Ruckman Road, Hillsdale; and sent to the Board's designated newspapers: The Record on April28, 2018 and the Ridgewood News on May 4, 2018. This meeting's agenda has been posted and sent to The Ridgewood News and The Record on November 7, 2018. 4. ANN BLANCHE SMITH GREEN TEAM ANN BLANCHE SMITH GREEN TEAM PRESENTATION PRESENTATION A presentation was made by the Ann Blanche Smith Green Team which consists of 4th grade students. Mrs. Rosenbaum opened the presentation with some comments on behalf of herself and all the Ann Blanche Smith 4th grade teachers. Mrs. Iskenderian expressed her gratitude to the students and teachers on the presentation. APPROVAL OF ESTIMATED CHILD APPROVED ESTIMATED CHILD REARING LEAVE; 2018-2019 REARING LEAVE It is recommended that the Board approve the estimated maternity related disability paid leave of absence (FMLA) of Jessica Allen effective March 18, 2019 through April 19, 2019, and the unpaid leave of absence (NJFLA) effective April29, 2019 through June 21, 2019 According to Chapter 78, all employees receiving Family Leave and not waiving health benefits must pay the Board of Education either the higher amount of either the insurance premium or 1.5% of their salary.
