There are no set fee schedules but each society does publish guidelines, which are available to the public; however, it is not mandatory for an attorney to follow these guidelines. The initials “Q.C.” following an attorney’s name indicate that he/she has been given honorary recognition as a member of the Queen’s Counsel. This is in most cases granted by the Provincial Government only to attorneys with over ten year’s active practice. All attorneys licensed to practice in Alberta are also Notaries Public.
