THE SET UP Ordinary World: Show what it’s like to be your protagonist Inciting Incident: Show the event that starts the story Story Parameters: Outline the goals, conflict, and stakes for your protagonist in the story ACT II. THE PLAN Protagonist’s Plan: Establish the course of action your protagonist will take to achieve the desired goal Protagonist Obstacles: Establish the obstacles your protagonist will face as he/she tries to enact her plan (antagonist, secondary opponents, external forces, character flaws) Ultimate Fail: Show the protagonist fail in a devastating way that makes achieving the desired goal seem impossible ACT III.
