The objectives of the Trust are educational, and grants are given primarily to those wishing to study at a school, college, or other educational establishment. Applications are particularly welcomed from residents of the Piddle Valley and its immediate neighbourhood. Normally applicants should be nearing the end of their school careers or have left school, though younger children with special educational needs may be considered. At the Trustees’ discretion, expeditions or travel groups for young people which are organised for scientific or cultural purposes may be eligible, provided they contain an educational element. The Trustees give priority to cases involving hardship or difficult family circumstances and where, without some assistance, the desired education, course or activity would not be possible. Special consideration is given to older people who may wish to start training for a particular career or other purpose after normal education has been interrupted. During the past year grants made by the Trust have included those to help university students with accommodation costs and equipment; to provide support for children with specific learning difficulties; and to provide training for adults hoping to change career. Meetings of Trustees to consider applications are held in May, September and January. Those wishing to apply should obtain an application form by writing to The Administrator c/o Piddle Valley First School, Piddletrenthide, DT2 7QL or by emailing [email protected]. Applications by post or email should be received not later than the 15th of the month before the meeting at which they are to be considered. Further details of the Trust can be found at www.bridgeeducationaltrust.org.uk but if you feel that you would like to discuss a possible application with one of the local Trustees, please contact one of the following: Hannah Murphy (348564), Richard Drewe (348253), Nick Harland (348272), Olivia Steven (348909) Richard Drewe, Chairman 22 www.piddlevalley.info 6 www.piddlevalley.info Dates for your diary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SEPTEMBER 1 Thur Piddle Valley Over 60s outing to Isle of Wight. 9 Fri Mobile Library 9 Fri Macmillan Coffee Morning from 10.00am to 1.00 pm at Piddlehinton Village Hall. 9 Fri Coffee morning with Produce Sale, Memorial Hall, Piddletrenthide 10.30–12 noon 9 Fri Hedgehog Hotel, Memorial Hall Piddletrenthide 7.00pm 10/11 Sat/Sun Ironman Competition 12 Mon Gardens Club Discount shopping at Poundbury Garden Centre 6.45pm 23 Fri Mobile Library 23 Fri Piddle Valley Barn Dance, Piddle Valley First School 7.15-9.30pm 25 Sun Piddlehinton Millennium Green Family Rounders, 2.00pm 26 Mon Gardens Club ‘Back to Nature?
