Route 702 PARRAMATTA – SOUTH WENTWORTHVILLE – GREYSTANES – BLACKTOWN Timeline 2 April 1982: Renumbered from part of 210 as part of reorganization of 179, 210 & 213 [all 1925 numbers] into 700, 702 & 703. 702 trips ran: Parramatta – South Wentworthville – Blacktown Parramatta – Greystanes via Whalans Rd Parramatta – Greystanes via Bathurst St Operated by Western Road Bus Service (Trevor Thornley). 24 January 1987: Replaced between Parramatta & Greystanes by Baxter’s 810, 811 & 815, as a result of transfer of Western Road Bus Service’s routes partly to Toongabbie Buses & partly to Baxter’s Bus Lines. 700 continued to run Parramatta – Blacktown via Great Western Hwy. For details of routes as from 22 March 2010, see (B) below. Streets From 2 April 1982 From Parramatta (Argyle St at station) via Argyle St, Wentworth St, Parkes St, Great Western Hwy, Centenary Rd, Old Prospect Rd (South Wentworthville), Greystanes Rd (Greystanes), Great Western Hwy, Blacktown Rd, Main St, Flushcombe Rd, Alpha St, Patrick St, Main St to Blacktown station. From Blacktown (Main St at station) via Main St, Blacktown Rd, then reverse route to Great Western Hwy, then Marsden St, Argyle St to Parramatta station. Trips terminating at Greystanes via Bathurst St: Ex Parramatta from Old Prospect Rd via Beresford Rd, Bathurst St, Greystanes Rd, Old Prospect Rd, then return to Parramatta. Trips terminating at Greystanes via Whalans Rd: Ex Parramatta from Old Prospect Rd via Cumberland Rd, Whalans Rd, Greystanes Rd, Old Prospect Rd, then return to Parramatta. Alterations By 1 August 1984 (trips terminating at Greystanes via Whalans Rd): Ex Parramatta from Old Prospect Rd via Greystanes Rd, Whalans Rd, Cumberland Rd, Old Prospect Rd, then return to Parramatta. By 5 March 1986: To approach Parramatta from Great Western Hwy via Church St, Argyle St to Parramatta station. Return via Wentworth St, Fitzwilliam St, Church St, Great Western Hwy. By 5 March 1986: Ex Parramatta from Blacktown Rd via Leabons Lane, Vienna St, Fowler St, Hayes Rd, Orana Av, Wall Park Av, Blacktown Rd. Reverse on return. Page 3 of 83 17 August 2019 Private Route Histories Region 3 Route 800 CABRAMATTA – EDENSOR PARK PARRAMATTA – SMITHFIELD – CABRAMATTA PARRAMATTA – SMITHFIELD – LIVERPOOL Timeline 2 November 1981: Cabramatta – Edensor Park via St Johns Rd section of 45 & the whole of 167 [1925 numbers] (& new route connecting Smithfield & St Johns Park) amalgamated as 800: Parramatta – Smithfield – Cabramatta via St Johns Rd Cabramatta – Edensor Park via St Johns Rd. Operated by Bosnjaks Bus Service (Bosnjak family, proprietors; Roger L Graham, general manager till 1990). First private bus route to be numbered in Sydney Region Route Number System. 24 October 1982: Following agreement between Bosnjaks Bus Service & Calabro Bros: Parramatta – Smithfield – Cabramatta rerouted via Canley Vale Rd instead of St Johns Rd Cabramatta – Edensor Park rerouted via Canley Vale Rd instead of St Johns Rd Together these routes replaced remaining section of 45 [1925 number]. These routes shared St Johns Rd with part of 40 [1925 number]. November 1983: Selected Cabramatta-Edensor Park trips through-routed with 832 at Edensor Park. October 1984: Operator’s name changed to Westbus. 3 December 1984: Cabramatta – Edensor Park section of 800 (& through-routing with 832 trips) renumbered 833, leaving 800 as Parramatta – Smithfield – Cabramatta. 21 September 1987: Rerouted & extended as Parramatta – Smithfield – Liverpool. Service between Cabramatta & St Johns Park already being provided by 833, which was renumbered 823 from this date. May 1999: Majority share of Westbus transferred to National Express Group. 20 March 2000: 600 & 800 amalgamated as 600, Liverpool – Parramatta – Rogans Hill, & rerouted between Wakeley & Liverpool via Edensor Park & Bonnyrigg (see Contract Region 4). Liverpool – Wakeley section of 800 replaced by 838. 4 February 2002: 600 split into pre-20 March 2000 constituent parts. 800 became Parramatta – Smithfield – Liverpool again. August 2005: Westbus transferred to Comfort Delgro Cabcharge joint venture. 22 March 2010: Ceased, mostly without direct replacement, as a result of Ministry of Transport review of Region 3. Part of route in Merrylands West replaced by 810 & 811. For details of routes as from 22 March 2010, see (B) below. Streets Parramatta – Smithfield – Cabramatta Via St Johns Rd From 2 November 1981 From Parramatta (Market St) via Church St, Fitzwilliam St, Wentworth St, Parkes St, Junction St, Great Western Hwy, Marsden St, Boundary St, Railway St, Burnett St, Hilltop Rd (Hilltop), Holroyd Rd, Merrylands Rd, Fowler Rd, Kenyons Rd, Sherwood Rd, Warren Rd (Smithfield), Smithfield Rd, Richards Rd, Bulls Rd, Hargreaves St [now Box Rd], Winburndale Rd, Bibby’s Rd [now approx line of Winburndale Rd] (Bonnyrigg), Brisbane Rd, Knapton St, Edensor Rd, Humphries Rd, St Johns Rd, Gladstone St, McBurney Rd, Park Rd, John St, Railway Pde to Cabramatta station.
