The volunteers range from churches to federal,-state and local agencies such as the Mexican-American Chamber of Commerce, American Indian Center, Women for Change Center and the NAACP. Once a vacancy opens, SMU has a waiting period before filling the position to assure that all sources have been informed. This period is ten days for exempt positions and five for non-exempt positions. According to Hobgood, the recruitment program will eventually decrease the disparities in employment, but will take time.
