BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The New Norway Campground was closed during the summer of 2015 due to the construction of the Water Distribution Building, and Water Infrastructure upgrades. The campground has five serviced campsites, and an un-serviced area to the north that can be used for group camping. It is on the honor system (similar to Tillicum Park), and has a camp kitchen, two washrooms, and ball diamonds available for tournaments. Currently there are no shower facilities. The sani-dump is well used by Highway 21 traffic. Policy, Bylaws, Provincial Acts or Regulations: Policy 16.06 New Norway Campground Camping Fees. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: See attached. Policy, Bylaws, Provincial Acts or Regulations: Financial Implications: $1972.00 to come from the Legacy Grant Fund (1-2-72-247-70-00-0000) Alternatives to the Recommendation: Pro's: Con's: Communication: Documentation: DISCUSSION: The lack of shale at the Hay Lakes Ball Diamonds has made the facility un-usable after rain. The 3 diamond facility is attractive to Ball Tournament Organizers, but the they are reluctant to rent the facility when the diamonds are in poor shape. This project entails adding shale to the ball diamonds. The Hay Lakes Ag Society has applied for a Community Facility Enhancement Grant for $3650, and has volunteer labour and cash totalling $1,727.50 to make up the remainder of the $7,890.00 cost of the project.
