Elections for the Town and Parish Areas in the Dorset Council on 2 May 2019 Rejected Ballot Papers At an election ballot papers may be rejected and not counted for the following reasons:- no official mark on the ballot paper the voter has voted for more candidates than entitled to there is writing or a mark on the ballot paper by which the voter could be identified the ballot paper is unmarked or there is uncertainty about the voter’s intention These are often known as ‘spoilt’ ballot papers.
