(A Central University) 8th Annual Report (01 April 2015 to 31 March 2016) (Based on the information received from various departments and sections of the University) Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) IV Annual Report 2015-16 Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (A Central University) From the Desk of the Vice Chancellor I consider it a privilege to present the Annual Report of the Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar, M. P. for the preceding year i. e. 1st April, 2015 - 31st March, 2016. Vishwavidyalaya witnessed a noticeable growth in terms of academics, administration and infrastructure during the last financial year. Ranking of our Vishwavidyalaya at 39th place by the National Insti- tutional Ranking Framework (NIRF-2016) is the important highlight of the year under reporting. Other highlights are as below: • Thirty-six teaching departments arranged into 11 Schools of Studies are offering 13 programmes at UG level, 43 at PG level and 34 at PhD level. Two Regional Study Centres and three Centres are also functioning. • A total number of 4350 students, 3063 in UG programmes, 1165 in PG programmes and 122 in Ph.D programmes were admitted during the academic session 2015-16 through all India entrance examination. These programmes are offered in Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) format. Curricular stipulated study tours for students were conducted by several departments. • NAAC accredited us with "A" Grade (3.04) in 3rd cycle in 2015. • Academic departments of the University organized 75 National and International seminars, workshops, etc. during 2015-16. Additionally, faculty members also delivered 348 invited lectures in seminars, workshops, refresher, orientation programmes, extension events V Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) organized by different Universities, institutions, colleges and communities etc. In addition to that faculty members had 482 membership of various Samities/Boards/Committees etc. Some faculty members visited countries like Germany, Japan, China, England, France etc. to deliver invited guest lectures and also presented their research findings in international fora. Besides, faculty also presented research findings in 413 seminars/workshops at national level during the year under report. The faculty members were conferred with 49 honors during 2015-16. • During 2015-16 a number of 26 books, 81 chapters in books and 365 research papers/ research articles were published in national /international journals by the faculty. Eleven funding agencies sanctioned an amount of Rs. 12.75 lakhs only as grant to facilitate the research work during 2015-16. There are 83 on-going research projects during this session. • The Vishwavidyalaya organized two programmes under Global Initiatives on Academic Networking (GIAN) programme of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. Two foreign faculty, one each from South Korea and Japan mentored the participants of these programmes. • Twenty-one students with NET-JRF and 23 with NET-LS joined PhD programmes during the year. Twenty project fellows were appointed and four students received INSPIRE fellowship of DST. • Thirteen-nine research scholars were given financial assistance for attending seminar/ symposia/workshop within India. Seventeen teachers were extended this facility. One teacher was provided financial support for attending international seminar. Nine research scholars were provided publication grant for publishing their doctoral thesis in book form. • Sophisticated Instrumentation Centre having high-end research equipments became op- erational. PURSE programme of Department of Science & Technology was under progress. • Three national patents were filed by the faculty members of the Vishwavidyalaya. • Human Resource Development Centre organized one Orientation Course, four Refresher Courses and one Short Term Course during the session under report. • EMMRC created 166 ETV programmes, 134 e-Content programmes and 1094 Learning Object Repository during the year. These programmes were submitted to Consortium for Educational Communication, New Delhi. EMMRC of the Vishwavidyalaya was adjourned 7th position amongst 21 media centres across the country. • One year (two semesters) Diploma Course on Mushroom Cultivation and Processing was introduced in the academic session 2015-16 with 50 intake capacity under Community College. • Ministry of Human Resource Development sanctioned a School of Education to our Vishwavidyalaya under its PMMMNMTT scheme. Sixteen faculty positions and Rs. 8.76 crores was sanctioned under this scheme. • Twelve Memorandum of Understanding has also been signed by the CIHEC, Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar (M.P.) with various National Research Institutes and Indus- tries on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences on 6th February, 2016. VI Annual Report 2015-16 • Department of Physical Education and Sports organized West Zone Inter-University Cricket Men Tournament from 4th-19th January, 2016. Students of the Vishwavidyalaya were winner in state-level chess competition; and runners in state-level Badminton competition (M), and in state-level wrestling (M) & (W). • Construction work of hostels and other physical infrastructure was in full swing. • A documentary film on Ped Ki Peed Jaan Re, based on the concept of "save trees-save- environment was screened at 6th National Science Film Festival. Recently, this film is also shortlisted for screening under Environment Category in the "Prakriti" Documentary Film Festival 2015-16 of CEC (Consortium for Educational Communication New Delhi). • Finance and Accounts Section, SC/ST Cell, Health and Sanitation department, Press, Distance Education Institute, Stores and Purchase, Transport, University Guest House, Public Relations Office, Public Information Cell, Security Department, Engineering Department, Raj Bhasha Cell, Anti Ragging Committee, Grievance Redressal Cell for Women, Delegacy Society, IQAC, Placement Cell and Appellate Office are in place to help the fraternity of the University i.e. Students, Teachers, Employees and Officers etc. • The faculty members and research scholars are actively engaged in community outreach programmes. They carried out various activities under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and Com- munity College to serve the Community directly in a mission mode. Faculty organized extension awareness camps on population education, eradication of illiteracy, health and sanitation, gender sensitization etc. at campus and community levels as well. Achievements highlighted above were only possible with the hard work of the student com- munity, faculty, officers and non-teaching staff of the University. Students and research scholars deserve special mention for preserving conducive atmosphere for teaching-learning and research in the university campus. We are happy to see this eighth annual report 2015-16 in your experienced hands. This university was established by the earnings of a great human and visionary Dr. Sir Harisingh Gour at sagar in 1946. It was well known for its learned faculty and curious scholars all over the world. Being first university of Madhya Pradesh and a popular university of India, its status was elevated and it was made central University on 15th of January, 2009 by the Act of the Government of India. The campus of this university is surrounded by forests with natural and picturesque environment. It offers the whole canvas of learning from the Arts, Science, Hu- manities, and Technology having focus on choice based credit System (CBCS), a world class teaching methodology since its inception as a central University. Each and every teaching department is committed to abide by the academic calendar with total honesty and transparency. It allows the students to opt programmes of their choice and interest and reap the benefits of credits earned from other departments also. Its positive result is now being seen here as a large number of students
