PRESS RELEASE A sea of Santas will be sure to cause a storm in two Cornish towns this December as Cornwall Hospice Care launch their first ever Santa Fun Runs in Padstow on Saturday 4 th December and Falmouth on Saturday 11 th December. The charity is calling out to those Cornish folk up for some festive fun to get involved – men and women, boys and girls, young and old – everyone is welcome to join the Christmas fundraiser. Entrants can choose to run, jog or walk around the route with a choice of two distances at both locations. “Everyone is really excited about the Santa Runs, it is going to be a fabulously festive event with lots of fun and merriment – I’m sure the sight of hundreds of Santas running through the streets is going to cause quite a stir!" said Karen Holman, Events Team Leader for Cornwall Hospice Care. There will be festive music at the start, mince pies and a warm drink to greet the runners when they finish. Every entrant will receive a free Santa suit, with Santa hats for children, so there really will be a sea of Santas by the seaside - a sure way to get into the Christmas spirit and to help raise some vital funds for the charity which provides adult hospice care across Cornwall. Radio Cornwall is supporting the charity runs not only by entering teams of runners but also with two of their well loved presenters setting the jolly Santas on their way – James Churchfield at the Padstow event and Laurence Reed in Falmouth. Anyone interested in joining one of the Cornwall Hospice Care Santa Fun Runs as a runner or as a volunteer is asked to get in touch with Karen on 01726 66869 or email [email protected] 1 2 Editorial KINGSWOOD RESTAURANT LONDON APPRENTICE Another magazine and another editorial to be written. 01726 63780 A new landlord and landlady in our pub and Hawkes Shop missing its EAT, DRINK & ENJOY mistress. (or just turn up on 01/01/2011) I was a little involved in the birth of The Polgooth Times which was the brain child of the late Jean Paul. I can ************************************ picture the smile of approval that Jean would have given on viewing the latest edition. She was a lovely lady who devoted POLGOOTH DAY JULY 24 TH : a great deal of time and effort to producing the magazine Cornwall Association of Local Historians (CALH) and maintaining its continued publication over the years, and would have been delighted with this latest edition. On behalf of CALH, I should like to thank the following local residents I hope you will now be able to persuade more people to for their contributions to our event: Tony Backhouse, Peter and contribute to our quarterly newsletter.
