ROLL CALL CCC Members in attendance: Michael Moreno, Rosanna Coombes, Jack Eastwick, Jaime Edrosa, Kevin Knutson, Stephanie Kruse, Elisa Maser, Chris Matthews, Adam Mayberry, Steve Mulvenon, and Rajan Zed. CCC Members absent: Tray Abney, Lucille Adin, Elena Brady, Daphne Emm, Jeff Hardcastle, Bob Harmon, Karen Hruby, Dee Schafer, and Mike Wurm. Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Agency (TMRPA) staff present: Gretchen Eykelbosh and Patricia Rogers. 2. PUBLIC COMMENT Aldo Aguirre, Regional Director of 2010 Census – Nevada, introduced himself and stated that he is here to support the outreach effort to the Hispanic hard to count community. Discussion and action regarding the work program of the CCC, including but not limited to, the status of and further direction on the committee’s action plan, strategies, timelines, and funding. Chair Moreno reported on the status of efforts with the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) regarding advertising on buses. Member Knutson stated that inserts will be sent out with the TMWA bills this month promoting the messages of Washoe Counts 2010. In the same bill, there will also be a mention in the TMWA newsletter. Member Mulvenon reported on the presentation given to all of the school principals and senior administrators promoting census in the schools. Census in the schools will start after the CRT testing is complete and Member Mulvenon is working on scheduling a media event launch. Member Eastwick provided an update on the business initiative. Member Zed reported on the status of inter faith activities. B. Status report from, and possible direction to, the CCC Public Relations Subcommittee regarding the action plan to implement the identified Public Relations Subcommittee strategies, including but not limited to: 1) consistent Northern Nevada educational and marketing messaging, draft drop-in articles, and talking points 2) electronic and web based opportunities 3) media kit and outreach activities 4) video creation and distribution 5) spokespersons list 6) family vignettes 7) a process of designating, training and scheduling of spokespersons 8) electronic document to be distributed to faith based organizations, and 9) “March to the Mailbox” strategy Member Kruse reported on the status of the PR Subcommittee strategic plan. Member Matthews reviewed the www.washoecounts.us site. Member Matthews will send CCC members login information for the administration of the site. Dave Byerman will give information to Member Matthews regarding the goggle calendar. Chair Moreno and Member Kruse will follow-up on finding a family to use for the second family vignette. Mr. Byerman reported on the “March to the Mailbox” strategy. Chair Moreno stated that he would get another CCC member to join Member Edrosa at the Hispanic CCC planning meeting this Saturday. Member Kruse reported on the idea of having Waste Management employees wear the “March to the Mailbox” t-shirts. 002 COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE MARCH 2, 2010 PAGE 3 There was discussion regarding distribution of fliers and it was suggested that the census clerks be used for that. This staff report also includes a report from, and possible direction to, the WC2010 Public Relations Subcommittee regarding proposed work program activities. WC2010 WORK PROGRAM At the January 12 meeting the WC2010 discussed a summary of the prioritized approaches to marketing, public relations and events and discussed who would be responsible for leading each of the efforts discussed (see Attachment #1).
