"Songwriters in the tradition of tradition" Traditional music has informed songwriters from Bach to Bob Dylan. Louise Luger will be performing music by songwriters who found their roots in the great traditions of folk music - including blues, country, Appalachian and Celtic tunes; and whatever's been sung on the porch or the road for generations. When Dylan first transformed a.m. radio songs from 'moons and junes' to the music of poetry, protest, innovation and discovery, Louise was led to explore the music that influenced him, and all the legions of songwriters he influenced. She will be singing songs by writers who are well known, and some who perhaps should be better known- including of course, Dylan; and talented musicians like Libba Cotton, Bill Staines, Jesse Winchester, Hank Williams, Iris Dement, Ryan Adams, Greg Brown and Utah Bruce Phillips. Louise sings in a strong, heartfelt and unadorned voice while accompanying herself on guitar, and occasionally harmonica. There will be a few sing alongs and the audience is encouraged to join in. She has performed solo concerts at many venues, including the Richmondtown Country Fair, the Perking Latte Cafe, the Art by the Ferry Fes- tival; and she has won Honors in the Bluegrass Competition at Paddy Reillys. She's Continued on next page - 2 - FMSNY Events Details- Continued also known as a songwriter herself, and will perform a few of her own compositions.
