Swindell, piloting the John Sabolich Catcam Schnee, led all but the opening circuit of the twenty-lap finale before a record opening crowd of 7,500. The win paid the Mud City native $2,500 for the first feature of the www.KnoxvilleRaceway.com Page 1 of 47 decade. Danny Lasoski chased the leader from the seventh lap and finished second at the checkereds for $1,650. Randy Smith claimed third, Australian Jaymie Moyle was fourth, and Mike Brooks took passing honors from the tail to finish fifth. Jeff Tuttle, Ronnie Daniels, Brian Tobin, John Sernett and Marlon Jones completed the top ten finishers. In limited sprint competition, Bob Thompson led the distance in that fifteen lap event. Chris Walraven finished second and Brian Schnee drove from the tail to take third. Lap Leader: Thompson 1-15. 4/27/90 - Rain 4/28/90 Swindell Takes Knoxville WoO Preliminary by Bob Wilson Knoxville, IA – Sammy Swindell took advantage of a front row starting position to guide the Harold Annett TMC Trucking J&J-Swindell to a convincing win during the World of Outlaws Spring Opener at the Knoxville Raceway Saturday night before a crowd estimated at 12,000. Swindell, who was in control of the twenty-lap event from the outset, entered heavy lapped traffic during the 13th circuit which enabled Mark Kinser and Steve Kinser to close within striking distance.
