CBS4 FOR $54: At every Marlins Friday home game, fans have the opportunity to take advantage of a special ticket promotion presented by CBS4 and the Marlins. Starting at just $54, fans will receive four game tickets, four hot dogs, four small soft drinks and two game programs. This package is available at the Dolphin Stadium Box Office, the Marlins en Miami store in Coral Gables or online at www.floridamarlins.com. PREGAME PARADE: A group of at least 750 kids from Plantation Athletic League will have the opportunity to walk around the outfield warning track at Dolphin Stadium prior to the game. BUDWEISER FIESTA LATINA HAPPY HOUR: The Marlins will present the Budweiser Fiesta Latina Happy Hour at Strike Zone at Gate H from 5:30-7 p.m. Salsa Casino Dance will provide free salsa lessons during Fiesta Latina every Friday night home game. EDUCATORS APPRECIATION NIGHT: This annual event recognizes the 2009 Teacher of the Year in Miami-Dade; Broward and Palm Beach. Jacquelle E. Sconiers of the Juvenile Justice Center School (Miami-Dade); Nicole Marsala of Coral Springs Middle School (Broward) and Michael L. Horgan of William T. Dwyer High School (Palm Beach) will receive an award from the Florida Marlins during an on-field pregame ceremony and also throw out the ceremonial first pitch. The Marlins donated two complimentary tickets to each school for the school’s teacher of the year and South Florida educators received a exclusive discount on advanced tickets to the game. As part of the festivities, the chorus from Chapel Trail Elementary will sing the National Anthem. PLANTATION ATHLETIC LEAGUE NIGHT: The Plantation Athletic League has over 1,000 players, coaches, family and friends attending the game. This is the largest youth league to attend a Marlins game since August of 2006. The PAL will participate in the pre-game youth baseball parade and will have a member throw out the first pitch. FRIDAY NIGHTS ARE FUN: The Florida Marlins Community Foundation hosts a key fundraiser every Friday night during Marlins home games at the Broward Health Community Corner, section 149. Fans can check out the raffle, silent auction, grab bags, mystery table and other special features. The excitement starts when the gates open at 5:30 and continues until the final out of the third inning. NATIONAL ANTHEM: Group members from Chapel Trail Elementary will perform the National Anthem as part of the pregame ceremonies. BLANKET COLLECTION: Volunteers from Camillus House will be collecting blankets at Gate F and H before each of the weekend games vs. the Kansas Royals. The blankets will be used to assist the homeless. The first 100 fans to make a donation prior to each of the three games will receive two ticket vouchers for upcoming games. Marlins fans and listeners of WQBA 1140 AM the official radio home of the Florida Marlins, will receive first-hand baseball instruction from the pros starting at 10:30 a.m. FRIENDS OF 440 SCHOLARSHIP FUND: David Samson, President of the Florida Marlins, and Nancy Olson, Executive Director of the Florida Marlins Community Foundation, will be presenting a check for $2,000 to the Friends of 440 Scholarship, Inc. The Friends of 440 Scholarship Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization comprised of attorneys, doctors, and judges or those whose employment is connected with the Florida Workers’ Compensation Act. They donate their time and energy to promote social, educational and charitable causes connected with workers’ compensation systems in the state of Florida. This non-profit organization also provides scholarships to children of injured workers or whose parents’ employment is within the administration of Florida worker’s compensation laws. The scholarship recipients must exemplify the spirit of professionalism through personal and academic achievement and lack the economic ability to continue their education without assistance of scholarship funds. The Friends of 440 will gather for their 2nd Annual “Night with the Fish” fund raiser on May 17 and will be represented by Cliff Moskowitz, Darcy Williams, Eric Sandler and Cory Schnepper. Both bands experienced international success in the 1970s. Before establishing a career as a solo artist, he was also a member of The Firm and The Law. He has recently toured and recorded with Queen. The concert and Fireworks Spectacular are presented by MetroPCS. SUPER SATURDAY AUTOGRAPH SIGNING: Every Saturday home game will feature autograph sessions in both Strike Zone tents with celebrities, players, and Marlins alumni between 5:30-7 p.m. Marlins Special Assistant to the President Andre Dawson will sign in the G-side tent from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra will be signing from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. In the A-side tent, Marlins players will be signing from approximately 6 p.m. – 6:20 p.m. for the first 100 kids 12-and-under only. Each child can receive both players’ autographs. SUPER SATURDAY RAFFLE: The Super Saturday Raffle features three autographed items. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Three lucky winners are chosen after the first pitch. The winners are announced on the Public Address System and shown on Marlins Vision in the middle of the third inning. Winners may pick up their items at the Broward Health Community Corner at section 149. ERIK SPOELSTRA VISIT: The newly appointed Miami Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra will visit the Florida Marlins. Spoelstra will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and will host a special autograph session for fans at the Strike Zone from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. as part of the pregame ceremonies.
